Scrap The Boys - Guest Designer

I'm super excited to be Guest Designing with Scrap The Boys today. They have a gorgeous mood board to use as inspiration for your scrapbook pages.

Here's my embracing the use of pink for boys page:

The colours on the train seats were just perfect for adding in the pinks.

Can you tell he was a bit excited? We were on our way to Nottingham to see Bing Bunny at the theatre - his first ever trip to a live show in a theatre.

A couple of close up shots of the pink and purplyblue stamping I put in the background.

Supplies:
Papers: Graphic 45, Beside The Sea; scraps from my stash
Stamps: SU, Gorgeous Grunge
Inks: SU, pink pirouette, night of navy
Stickers: Cocoa Vanilla, Boys Rule; EP, Note to Slef; MAMBI chips; Dear Lizzy Washi & gitter hearts; Vicki Boutin sticker book
Enamel stars: SU sweet sugarplum

So now it's over to you. How will you use the mood board? Can't wait to find out!

Thanks so much for looking and I hope I may have inspired you a little about using pink on a boy page.

And keep crafting!

Sunday Slot

Today it's a scrapbook page I have to share and it uses the layout from Let's Get Sketchy.

Here it is:

This was such a joyous and exciting day out that I chose some very bold papers with in your face colours and patterns from Shimelle's Box of Crayons.

I adore this puffy shaker sticker from Shimelle's Box of Crayons and it pretty much sums up how much fun we had at the theatre watching the magical Bing puppet show. Well Ed watched it and I watched him watching it!

I balanced the page with a smaller sticker stack on the right hand side. I used a 3 as one of my stickers as a reminder that he was 3 years old when we went on this trip.

Supplies:
Papers: AC Shimelle, Box of Crayons
Alphas: AC thickers, subway
Stickers: AC Shimelle, Box of Crayons; AV Vicki Boutin sticker book; AC Maggie Holmes sticker book; MAMBI The Happy Planner, puffy stickers
Dies: Xcut, spiro circles
Enamel dots: Shimelle, Box & Crayons, sparkle dots; others from my stash

Thanks so much for looking today, it's been great to have your company for a while.

And keep crafting!

Saturday Spot

I'm back playing at Scrap The Boys again today, but this time it's a scrapbook page.

The theme for this month is BABY and here's my newest grandson looking pretty cheeky and enjoying his bath.

I've used supplies almost exclusively from Cocoa Vanilla's Boys Rule, but there are a few scraps from my stash in the photo mat stack.

I didn't think this page really needed extensive journalling and have left the chipboard and word stickers tell the story.

Tuesday Talk

I'm playing along with Let's Get Sketchy today, so it's a scrapbook page to share.

All those strips were a challenge and I met it by stamping and adding narrow washi tape:

I picked up the colours from the photos for my background paper and stamping and then added an embellishment cluster instead of the third photo from the sketch.

I balanced that embellishment cluster with a smaller one at the bottom, creating a diagonal line to help the eye.

The title was added to make that triangle of elements that we all love and I finished off with some splatters of ink. I simply applied an ink pad to an acrylic block, added water and then used a paintbrush to flick the ink where I wanted it.

Supplies:
Stamps: Precious Remembrance shop, DIY, Totally, Little Things
Inks: SU, blueberry bushel, tempting turquoise, sweet sugarplum, bermuda bay, calypso coral
Alphas: Simple Stories, Summer Vibes, Bloom & Grow, So Rad
Stickers: The Happy Planner puffy stickers; Shimelle Box of Crayons; AC, Maggie holmes & Vickii boutin sticker books; Cosmo Cricket, tiny text; MAMBI sticks, MAMBI washi; October Afternoon, the Ocean blue labels; Jillibean Soup labels; Lilybeedesigns labels

Tuesday Talk

More scrapbook pages again today and yes they're both as a result of that Shimelle class Layer on Layer on Layer!

This page uses those awesome Cocoa Vanilla Boys Rule papers and embellishments again. The most perfect collection for me and I love the blue and green colours!

The placement challenge for this page was to use the diagonal. So only two sets of embellishments instead of the usual trio. And as just about everything came from the same paper collection it was a breeze to put together - no searching for matching elements.

Loving all those splodgy patterns! I added a few splats of my own too and some deliciously thin MAMBI washi tape.

Supplies:
Papers, Stickers, Chipboard, Clear Stickers: Cocoa Vanilla, Boys Rule
Washi: MAMBI
Enamel dots: Freckled Fawn
Ink: Mister Huey's Color Mists, dark calico

I'm popping this page into the challenge at Scrap The Boys where the theme is Stay Wild.

The challenge for the next page was to add a strip at the top and bottom and then work towards the middle. I used a paper strip at the top and a sticker strip at the bottom and they're both straight in real life, it's my photo that's wonky!

The photo was matted and layer and then the embellishment clusters were added on either side.

And to complete a triangle another layered stack was added at the top of the page. The title gave me a few placement problems and was moved around a bit, but finally got lined up with the left side layers.

I adore this photo of the two generations, both totally engrossed in their chosen screen and completely unaware that I snapped it.

Supplies:
Papers: Cocoa Vanilla, Boys Rule
Stickers: Cocoa Vanilla, boys Rule; Doodlebug, Dragons Tails; Lilybeedesigns, Pinwheel labels; Kaisercraft; MAMBI chips; AC, Vicki Boutin
Alphas: AC Thickers, hugs; Simple Stories, You Are Here & Say Cheese
Die: Spellbinders, Labels eight
Enamel shapes: Shimelle, box of caryons; MME, Now & then
Ink: Mister Huey's Color Mists, dark calico

Thanks for taking some time to look at my blog today, I really appreciate it.

And keep crafting!

Monday Moment

A couple of scrapbook pages to share today. Both the result of Shimelle's Layer on Layer on Layer class.

And since I started this page by stamping a line of rainbow splats down the left hand side I'm going to pop it into the challenge at QKR Stampede where it's Anything Goes. I'm not sure if this extends to scrapbook pages but as I couldn't see any requirement for a card in their rules I'm giving it a go.

The focus for this first page was the placement of the photo and embellishments. This one uses just half of the space. This is one of my all time favourite photos. My oldest son was helping to host an open mic at a local pub and his son, my grandson, joined in with his harmonica.

Quite a lot of layers were added to the top of this page and a few at the side and bottom to make that magic triangle our eyes seem to love.

Supplies:
Papers: Craft Sensations, basic paper; Simple Stories, Crafty Girl; Echo Park, Country Drive & little Girl; AC, Garden cafe
Stamps: SU, Gorgeous Grunge
Inks: SU, tempting turqoise, melon mambo, crushed curry; Miste Huey's Color Mists, sunshine
Enamel dots from my stash
Stickers: AC Vicki Boutin & maggie Holmes

My next page features my youngest grandson and the placement focus was down the middle.  I broke out my new pack of Cocoa Vanilla papers and embellishments that had just arrived - I'm swooning at these and being very brave using them before they've had time to make it to my boxes of stash!

Mmm, I think his mum and dad might question the sleep part! He's not the best at sleeping and they're both walking around like zombies at the moment. But he is totally awesome and I adore him!

The embellishment layers on this page are down the sides, one on the left and two on the right, to keep in line with the central placement challenge.

Supplies:
Papers: Cocoa Vanilla, Boys Rule
Stickers: Cocoa Vanilla, Boys Rule; Cosmo Cricket, tiny Text; Basic Grey, Carte Postale; Kaisercraft; Ali edwards; Simple Stories, #Whatever; MAMBI chips; The Happy Planner, puffy stickers
Enamel dots from my stash

Thanks for looking today, it's been so good to have your company.

Sunday Slot

Another two scrapbook pages from week 3 of Shimelle's Layer on Layer on Layer class to share today.

This page uses split complementary colours and I started with the leftover orange papers from yesterday. Then searched out some blue-green and blue-purple supplies to add to them.

These are such an unusual colour combination and I would never have thought to use them together without this class prompt.  But I think they work really well, especially with these particular photos.

Supplies:
Papers: SU; Kaisercraft, Offshore; Shimelle, Box of Crayons; + scraps from my stash
Stickers: Echo park, A walk in the park; AC, vicki boutin; The Happy planner; MAMBI washi; Simple Stories, Whatever; Shimelle, Box of Crayons, shaker sticker, accent 7 phrase booklet
Enamel shapes: Shimelle, Box of Crayons, Funny Sticker world; + from my stash

This next page couldn't be more different in colour! In fact the brief was to stick to white as much as possible. It features my oldest and youngest grandsons - there are two more in the middle. Oh and I have to let you know there will be some pink pages next year as finally a granddaughter is on the way!

Apart from the odd bits of black and a nod to the wall colour in the photo I think I did quite well. And it's shown me what a massive load of stash I have too. Every colour the class has asked for this week I've been able to find - no guilty feelings here though as I love scrapbooking and I get to keep everything I've created!

As there were sooooo many layers on today's page the journalling has been scattered around the page which i think workd really well too.

Supplies:
Papers: Cocoavanilla, Radiant; ep, Note to Self; + loads of scraps from my stash
Stickers: Simple Stories, Beautiful, Life in Colour; AC, Maggie Holmes, Vicki Boutin; Ali Edwards; Carta Bella, Moments & Memories; MAMBI Chips
Punch: Martha Stewart, butterflies
Pearls, gems and enamel dots from my stash

It's been fabulous to have you visit my blog today, thanks so much for looking.

And keep crafting!

Saturday Spot

The next instalment of my scrapbook journey with Shimelle's Layer on Layer on Layer class is up today.

The focus for week 3 was colour and today's page needed black, white and one other colour.

So I went with the salmon pink colour from my skirt and built up a stack of papers and stickers round the photo of me and my fellow college friends at a reunion in Portsmouth.

I included the things we said as tried to pose for our photo - seems as we get older we get more particular about how we stand. And then this photo happened and it all went pear shaped!

Supplies:
Papers: Bo bunny, Summer Mood
Stickers: Simple Stories, SnapCarpe Diem, #Whatever, Life in color; AC, Remarks; Shimelle, Accent & Phrase; AC Vicki Boutin; Cosmo Cricket, Pretty Stuff, Life Story; October afternoon, Bookworm
Journal Cards: Simple Stories, I Am; Elle's Studio, Quotables
Enamel dots: Simple Stories, Carpe Diem

The challenge for the next page was to use two complementary colours. And my photos made that the simplest choice ever!

This page just flew together and I decided to use two focal areas for layering embellishment stacks linked by a splatter of white ink.

I found lots of blue and orange elements in my stash and layered like a pro!

I'm trying to remember to always add the date to my pages. Although they are all stored in date order in yearly albums it's surprising how quickly you forget the actual date that the photos were taken. And yes the date is always on the photos on my computer, but that's means looking a bit harder!

Supplies:
Papers: Lilybeedesign, apricot tree; AC, Daydreams; + loads of scraps
Stickers: Shimelle, Box of Crayons; October Afternoon, Bookworm; Simple Stories, Whatever; MAMBI chips, Happy Planner; Lilybeedesigns, Chit chat, Pinwheel labels; jillybean Soup, saffron Yellow Pepper soup; Basic Grey, Carte Postale
Die: CUTplorations, gorgeous
Ink: Mister Huey's Color Mists, opaque white

Thanks so much for your time today, i really appreciate you stopping by my blog.

And keep crafting!
