AAA Cards Game 30

The last of AAA Card's Christmas challenges begins today and we want you to get creative with plaid.

http://www.aaacards.blogspot.co.uk/

I love all the images Victoria comes up with, and this is one of my all time favourites. Loving those tartan mugs!

For my card I did a bit of paper piecing by stamping the Santa image once onto card and once onto tartan paper. Then I cut out the Santa and mounted him onto pads for dimension.

I stamped a greeting onto a square of white card and then matted it onto the same tartan paper.

Finally I added a bit of stickles glitter to his cuffs, coat border, hat border and pompom. This close up shows my paper piece cutting quite clearly - maybe a bit too clearly!

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Jolly Christmas
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black
Paper: Paper Cellar
Embellishments: Stickles

I'm just finishing off today by sharing my December Daily for the 11th. As always I'm linking it at Let's December Daily.

Here's the album overview. As I was so pleased with how the sequin pocket peeped through several pages - here - I've added a strip of coloured transparency to today's page which will do the same. I may even go back and insert a few more like this if I get time.

Here's a closer look at the journal card:

And the photo:

So pleased you had time to drop by today, thanks for your visit. Hope to see your entry at AAA Cards and I'm sending a little Christmas sparkle your way.

Saturday Slot

A big thank you to CAS Colours & Sketches for picking this card as one of the winners for Challenge 102

This week at CAS Colours & Sketches it's a Christmas theme again, but this time choosing any of the past sketches.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/christmas-sketch-challenge-104.html

So I chose Sketch 42

And that circle was just begging for a diecut snowflake! I started by making a glitter line using double sided tape - thanks to Bev for reminding me about this technique - and then randomly stamped tiny snowflakes over the top part of the card. And a sentiment just below the glitter line.

I messed up one of the tiny snowflakes so moved the die cut snowflake over to the other side to cover it up

Finally I added a trio of pearls to outline the sentiment.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Big & Bold Snow
Ink: SU, soft sky
Die: Die'Sire, snowflakes
Embellishments: DecoArt, crystal glamour dust; Hobby House, the blues pearls

Now for my December Daily pages. Once again I'm linking up with Let's December Daily.

This is my first showing of my new grandson, Edward. Happily after a bit of a difficult time for Mum & worry for Dad, all three are now safely home.

And the journal card:

This is my favourite photo taken in the hospital - my oldest son connecting with his first baby. My daughter-in-law will make her debut when she's able to hold him and feeling a lot lot stronger.

Well thanks for looking today, your visit is much appreciated. Sending you some Christmas sparkle.

Thursday Thoughts

Time to share the next three pages of my December Daily album. Follow this link if you're looking for more inspiration.

Let's December Daily Badge

Here's December 7th:

And a closer look at the journal card. I was trying to decorate this tree while cooking lunch and keep my mind off what was going on in the hospital - so not the relaxing experience of my first tree!

But I persevered and finally it was done.

December 8th pages:

We braved the cold biting wind and put up the new outside decorations. It was just too cold to stay out and climb the ladder to do the under the garage lights - another day perhaps.

I've been so looking forward to seeing how they looked and am really pleased.

December 9th pages:

The journal card. This was THE DAY, possibly the longest in my life!

I was thankful for Murray to stroke and walk and feed and occupy my time.

Well that's me all caught up and the big reveal of my new treasure next time I post.

Thanks for visiting my blog today, I do appreciate your time and kind encouraging comments.

Wednesday Words

Amazing how someone so tiny can cause such a lot of upheaval and anxiety. So yes, at last, my new grandson has been persuaded to come and meet us. Two weeks late, three tense days and then a final three hours of near panic - me not them - and he's here! I'm convinced it's less stressful to do it yourself than wait at home for a phone call.

Anyway time to catch up a bit with my December Daily now my brain is a bit calmer and able to concentrate on one thing without flitting off on a tangent. So three days completed and ready to share. I'm linking my pages up with Let's December Daily - here - so much brilliant inspiration over there, the DT are all so talented and arty.

Let's December Daily Badge

Seems like forever ago, but here's my Dec 4th pages.

And a closer look. The Scrooge quote is not because my dad is mean, just a grumpy old man - but then aren't they all?

And the photo of him being made to open his own cards - you do it Jane - no way!

5th December  was a beauty, just loved decorating the real tree.

And the closer look:

I'd forgotten about these two little girls that I bought last year - so very cute. And the first one is supposed to be out of focus - I was playing with depth of field on my husband's DSLR camera - at least I think that's what it's called.

Then on Saturday we escaped for a few hours and visited Holkham in Norfolk. Oh WOW! So many absolutely stunning rooms decorated for Christmas. Almost impossible to pick just one photo!

And the journal card:

Just couldn't resist this photo. I was so taken by the fox's face and the person dressed up made him into such a character, pouring tea, stirring in sugar and picking up a cracker and wearing it as a bow tie - magic! Could have sat and watched for ever.

So that's three days caught up, only another couple to go.

Hope you enjoyed today's share. Thanks so much for visiting. Off to meet my new grandson this afternoon - really excited!

Saturday Slot

This week is a colour challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches, but with a twist - a Christmas card using any of the past colour combos. And at Time Out we're being asked to CASE a card by Amy Wanford.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/christmas-colour-challenge-103.html        Grab Our Badge!

I chose #86 for my entry.

And picked up on the shape, layers and one of the groups of three from Amy's card.

I used my brand new stamp set from Uniko Studio bought with some of my prize money from way back in September. I am so smitten with this tree and my card came together so quickly I made another....

 and then another....

Wish I could say the same for the photos. It's so dark and gloomy here today I was really struggling to get enough light anywhere in the house and had to resort to dragging a table across the door of the conservatory. And still the embossed doves on the last card hardly show!

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Rustic Christmas
Card 1:
Inks: SU, cherry cobbler & night of navy
Card: vanilla linen from my stash
Card 2:
Inks: SU, cherry cobbler & old olive
Paper: Paper Cellar, squares
Card 3:
Ink: Memento, rich cocoa; Versamark
Embossing: Personal Impressions, mirror gold
Card: gold mirri board from my stash

I'm also sharing my December Daily pages for 3rd, always going to be at least two days late because I have to live the day, then make my pages and take photos the next day before sharing with you on the third or fourth day - or maybe even later as the month progresses and things start to happen!

So here's the pages as they are in my album

And a closer look at the journalling:

And the evidence of all that internet ordering. And if you think that looks bad you should see the floor!

And that little sequin pocket insert which can be seen from both sides and even more exciting, because I hadn't planned this, it peeks out between tomorrow's pages too!

Thank you so much for dropping by my blog today. I hope you found something to inspire and here's sending you some Christmas sparkle.

Thursday Thoughts

My dad's birthday today - 86 - but still no sign of my new grandson. I've been saving this sketch from The Memory Nest for his introduction to the world page, too late to enter it into the challenge now, he obviously didn't fancy November as his birth month after all.

So on to the new December sketch and a page about buying the real tree.
http://thememorynest.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/make-it-monday-no-30.html

I used my go to Stampin Up stamps where the stars are sprinkled on the sketch and under the punched circle above the photo mat. Otherwise I think I've stuck very close to the sketch and not even done my usual trick of shrinking proportions.

Just loving these cork alphas!

A closer look at my journalling:

Supplies:
Papers: tim Holtz; ep, times & seasons; scraps from my stash
Stamps: SU, Gorgeous Grunge & Kinda Ecletic
Ink: Memento, espresso truffle
Alphas: Papermania, bare basics; ep, all about a boy
Punch: Xcut, scallop edger; Martha Stewart deep edger, daisy fan

My December 2nd page for my December Daily album is also about the tree buying and a different part of the story. See my husband has this swish precious car, while I have a tiny beat up old banger.  Put a tree in his car - never! But he did, both last year and this year, although next year he'll deny it again.

And a closer look at each page:

Thanks for your time today and here's sending some Christmas sparkle your way.
