The Memory Nest - Make It Monday 36

Time today for the second Make It Monday March challenge over at The Memory Nest. Check out this super sketch.

http://thememorynest.blogspot.co.uk/

I decided it was time to make another dent in my Christmas photos. Although most of them were included in my December Daily album I always like to have a few in my yearly album too. The SMILE journal card became the title for this page and also set my colour choices.

These photos were taken on Christmas Eve and as you can see they were well wound up and bristling with excitement.

I stamped my own card for my journalling and picked up on the stars from the two horizontal strips of the layout. And believe me when I say the adults were as crazy as the kids!

A little close up of those smiles with an arrow to show you the way!

Supplies:
Paper: Bazzill Basics cardstock; AC, kraft card; Simple Stories, Say Cheese; scraps from my stash
Dies: Xcut, spiro circle & stars; Die-namics, ampersand; Paper Smooches, Cardbooking
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Strike A Pose!; Kaisercraft, grid & numbers; Two Peas In A Bucket, Shimelle
Inks: SU, night of navy; Memento, rich cocoa

So now it's over to you, looking forward to seeing your pages (or cards if that's more your thing).

So pleased you had time to visit today, thanks so much. And keep crafting!

AAA Cards Game #35

It's already time for our next challenge at AAA Cards and this one is right up my street - very CAS  - YAY! And this fortnight there are some great prizes and a guest design spot to be won!

Don't you just love Victoria's choice of inspiration photo?

I decided to make a one layer card and as I'm always looking for ways to make them a bit different I went for the 'die cut and put back in' approach. I know this has caused a lot of commenting in blogland recently, but in  my book as it fits flat and doesn't add dimension it's definitely still one layer.

I really wanted to add a trio of gems around my image, but as they are stuck on and do add dimension then I had to concede that would be more than one layer. So I stamped and coloured sequins instead.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Flower Power #1 & #3 & A Gift For You
Inks:SU, basic grey
Promarkers: cool grey 1,3 & 4
Die: Lawn Fawn,stitched party banners

So now it's over to you, looking forward to visiting your blogs and leaving some love. And don't forget there are prizes to be won! What are you waiting for? Get crafting!

Thanks for looking today, really appreciated. And keep crafting.

Saturday Slot

Today's card is for two challenges - Time Out and The Male Room.

Frame Collage Funky Bright Home Decor Upcycled Vintage Frames Hollywood Regency Apartment Decor Quirky Decor  http://www.themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/dt-call-and-challenge-05-sketch.html

Now as it's their first birthday at Time Out I thought my card should reflect this and I just love text heavy cards anyway.

And I decided to use that sketch from The Male Room again - first use here. Now I know there's pink on the card, but with such a graphic style I thought it was still ok for blokes and who's to say they don't like pink anyway!

The frames are stamped and squared up by trimmimg off the bottom. I kept it all pretty simple and just added a trio of stamped glossy accented sequins to highlight that middle frame.

Supplies:
Stamps:Uniko Studio, Strike A Pose, All Occasion Sentiments #2, Simply Said Birthday, A Gift For You
Inks: Memento, rose bud, bahama blue, pear tart; SU, pacific point
Embellishments: glossy accents

Thanks for dropping by today, your time is much appreciated. And keep crafting!

Friday Focus

A card to share that's something a bit different for me. It uses some colours from this month's challenge at Make the Day Special Stamp Store and also fits the WOW! Embossing Powders Spring themed challenge.

http://makethedayspecialcards.blogspot.co.uk/p/challenges.html

I used the aqua, purple and yellow from the first swatch and tried to conquer my fear of watercolours! And for the first time ever managed to produce a result that excited me and I actually like!

I started by stamping the sun and balloons in yellow, then overstamped with Versamark before heat embossing with WOW! sparkling snow glitter. Next I put the three ink colours onto an acryllic block, spritzed with water and placed the card on top. Once this was dry I flicked some very watered down purple ink from a brush to get some splatters

When this was all dry I added some more purple round the edges and a little purple and yellow to the embossed stamps using my inkylicious brushes. Finally I stamped the balloon strings, sprinkled some sequins and added a sentiment.

Supplies:
Stamps: Lawn Fawn, Hellp Sunshine - available at Make The Day Special
Inks: SU, wisteria wonder, tempting turquoise, daffodil delight; Memento, tuxedo black; Versamark
Embossing: WOW!, sparkling snow glitter
Embellishments: squins from my stash

Well I really feel I've achieved something today and might just be changing my mind about watercolours! I'd be interested to hear how you get along with watercolours - do you love, tolerate or hate them?

Thanks for your visit and time today. And keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #115

It was so exciting to see how you used my colours last week and now it's time for my first ever sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches.

Amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it, never ever thought I'd be able to produce a sketch - really hoping it inspires you!

Out came my trusty Uniko Studio Background Builders Vines set - such amazingly versatile stamps. I stamped across a strip of card, cut it to size to fit a die cut rectangle and punched a butterfly from the trimmings. I then picked up on the ink colours for the two vertical banners and punched a larger butterfly from the green card.

A simple stamped sentiment and a pearl added to the butterfly stack and I was done.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Background Builders Vines & sentiment from A Gift For You
Inks: SU, old olive; Memento, rose bud, angel pink
Die: Lil'inker, stitched mats rectangle
Punches: Martha Stewart, butterfly; Tonic Studio, large butterfly
Embellishment: The Hobby House, adhesive pearl

Have you ever stamped a background paper? I'm really pleased about how like patterned paper my strip looks and will definitely be doing this again.

Thanks for your time today. Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll like my sketch and have time to join in with the challenge.

Keep crafting!

Wednesday Words Part 2

I've just spent a relaxing afternoon scrapping a page for the March week 2 challenge at Let's Get Sketchy. So I thought I'd just get on and post it straightaway!

Here's the sketch - loving the proportions and placement of the elements.

http://www.letsgetsketchy.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/team-b-march-week-2.html

And my page is all about that crazy hound Murray - well the long long bits of time in between the energy and madness.

He likes nothing better than to snooze on the sofa dreaming of his former racing life with a toothy grin on his face.

Such a hard life!

And a close second to snoozing - having a belly rub. I just love how his foot is stretched out in absolute ecstasy!

Supplies:
Papers:Lilybee, Jump Rope; Simple Stories, Say Cheese II; ep, note to self; scraps from my stash
Alphas: AC thickers, Subway
Dies: Dienamics, ampersand; Waffle Flower, Partly Cloudy; Paper Smooches, Bam Bubble
Embellishments: SU, essentials wooden elements

Thanks for looking, I love that you spend time here. And keep crafting!

Wednesday Words

Today I'm sharing a card I made for this week's challenge at Less is More where the theme is yellow and green. Had to be daffodils then!

We'd love you to display our banner

And I made a little banner of them.

First I stamped and cut out the tags and then added one daffodil to each one. This needed a bit of careful inking as there are actually five flowers on the stamp.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Pretty Pertals, Say It In Style, Journal It
Inks: SU, daffodil delight, wild wasabi; Memento, tuxedo black
Die: Lil'inker, stitched mats rectangles

Short and sweet today - lots of boring housework to get done! Thanks for looking. And keep crafting!
