Saturday Slot

A scrapbook page to share today using the first April sketch from Let's Get Sketchy.

http://www.letsgetsketchy.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/team-april-week-1.html

A blast from the past for this page! This photo tells so many stories without needing a lot of journalling. My three boys looking as if the age difference between each of them is vast - three totally different stages of development. Love it!

And just look at the hair! Think the look the older two were sporting was called 'curtains'. And my baby's style can only be described as 'pudding basin'!

Just a little journalling to clarify their ages - something I always want to know and try to work out when looking at old photos of them.

Supplies:
Papers: Kaisercraft, Rewind; My Mind's Eye, Mischievious
Dies: Spellbinder, standard circles small; Xcut, spiro circles; Marianne, LR0188; Clearly Besotted, Superstar
Embellishments: button, candi dot & tag from my stash

So pleased you had time to visit today, thank you.

Enjoy the weekend and keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #119

Did you enjoy the colours from last week's CAS Colours & Sketches challenge? Certainly had some super entries. So this week it's a sketch and a super simple one with endless possibilities.

As soon as I saw those circles I knew I was going to use the oh so versatile new sunburst stamp set from Clearly Besotted. And I wanted the colours to reflect an Aztec jewellery look because that's what those sunbursts remind me of.

Now my two photos look like different colourways, but its just the effect of the light - I'm so poor at getting this right! And as always this small close up is far truer to the real colours.

I'm loving the potential of this stamp set. It's one of those with lots of different sizes and patterns that can be combined in endless different combinations - so cool!

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Sunburst; Uniko Studio, All Occasion Sentiments #1
Inks: SU, tempting turquoise, soft suede, pumpkin pie
Punch: Xcut, corner rounder
Embellishments:The Hobby house pearls, chocolate heaven

So now it's your turn to get creative with this week's sketch. An of course remember to check out what the rest of the DT have come up with at CAS Colours & Sketches - you're sure to be inspired!

Thanks for looking today, your visit is much appreciated. And keep crafting!

Wednesday Words

Just popping in quickly today to share my black card made for Less is More's current challenge.

We'd love you to display our banner

A really quick and easy card, definitely less rather than more. The star was die cut from the black card and backed with gold holographic card.

And the sentiment was embossed in gold leading into the star to finish off the phrase.

But the challenge came trying to photograph this card. My camera didn't like all that shiny black and finding the right place and angle to catch it proved really difficult!

Supplies:
Stamp: Clearly Besotted, Superstar
Ink: Versamark
Embossing: Personal Impressions, mirror gold
Die: Clearly Besotted, Superstar

Thanks for looking today.

And keep crafting!

The Memory Nest - Make It Monday 37

Time for the first Make It Monday sketch for April. Be sure to join in and play over at The Memory Nest - remember you can use the sketch for a card if that's more your thing. And great incentive to link up - the chance to win a gift certificate to spend at The Memory Nest shop.

http://thememorynest.blogspot.co.uk/

I love this sketch and knew immediately I wanted to use it for a Spring based page for my 2015 album. So off I went out into the garden and took photos specifically for this page. And that set my colour choices - loving the clashing contrast of yellow and purple, nature always get it right!

A quick rummage through my paper scraps and the page quickly came together. I decided to use the sub-title spot for a dictionary definition of Spring. And boy did it take a while- and several bin jobs -  to get the font sized and centred so I didn't snip it off when I punched the corners!

As the photos really told all the story I hand wrote a poem about Spring instead of journalling. I was hoping the contrast of the typed card and the handwritten poem would create balance and contrast. I'm liking how it looks - what do you think?

The main title words are both die cut in a purple to match the crocuses. A few sprinkled sequins just added a touch of movement and sparkle to my page.

Supplies:
Papers: Bazzill Basics, plain cardstock; KN, Hip-hip Hooray; scraps from my stash
Dies: Cuttlebug alpha, Hippy Chick; Clearly Besotted, Hello
Punch: Woodware, inverted corner
Embellishments: sequins from my stash

So pleased to have you visit today, your time is appreciated. Remember to hop over to The Memory Nest to be inspired by all the gorgeous DT creations!

And keep crafting!

Saturday Slot

How's your bank holiday weekend going? Hope you're getting a little sunshine and some time to craft.

Well I managed some time to get inky yesterday and made a card to enter into two challenges - The Male Room and CAS(E) this Sketch.

Grab our button for your blog            http://casethissketch.blogspot.com.au/2015/04/case-this-sketch-117.html

Here's my card:

I started by die cutting the rectangle and stamping the circles in place of the hearts from the CAS(E) this Sketch layout.

Next I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment straight across the middle - this is the required use a metallic embossing powder element from The Male Room. It's difficult to see the metallic embossing, but I think the photo below shows it up.

I finished off this CAS card by matting the rectangle onto green card before adhering to the card base.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Background Builders Round In Circles & All Occasion Sentiments #1
Inks: Memento, pear tart; SU, soft suede, crushed curry; VersaColor, black
 Embossing: Personal Impressions, mirror gold
Die: Lil'inker, stitched mats rectangles

Thanks for dropping by today, your visit is much appreciated.

And keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #118

It's all change at CAS Colours & Sketches this week - a new look to the blog, a few tweaks to the rules and new timings. Go check it all out here, you're going to love it!

This month Louise is our hostess and she picked a cracking set of colours for the current challenge. When I first saw them they immediately reminded me about the frogs in my pond - photos here - so that was my starting point for my card.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2015/04/challenge-118-colours.html

And this little frog from Digi Stamp Boutique is just so cute - and we are now accepting the use of digi stamps at CC&S. The frogs in my pond are absolutely fascinating, but cute would definitely not be the word to describe them!

As green is the favourite colour of my middle grandson this card may well be winging its way over to him later this year.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Background Builders Chevrons; Digi Stamp Boutique, Bob; Clearly Besotted, sentiment from Wild Thing
Inks: SU, pear pizzazz, mossy meadow; Kaleidacolor, riviera
Colours: Promarkers, meadow green, marsh green
Dies: Lawwn Fawn, large stitched squares & large stitched circles

As the code word at Addicted to CAS is CUTE at the moment, and this little fella is definitely that, I'm going to pop this card into their challenge. And it will also go into the monthly challenge at Digi Stamp Boutique.

Thanks for visiting today, hope you've been inspired and will be joining in the fun at CAS Colours & Sketches this week.

And keep crafting!

Wednesday Words

Do you love frogs? Well I'm hoping so because they're the inspiration for the scrapbook page I'm entering into Let's Get Sketchy's last March challenge which consists of both a sketch and a moodboard.

http://letsgetsketchy.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/march-week-5-moodboard-and-sketch.html  http://letsgetsketchy.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/march-week-5-moodboard-and-sketch.html

So I picked up on the Spring theme and the colours - green, pink and a little yellowy orange, but the water and bubbles were the first thing that made me reach for my frog photos. The bubbles reminded me so much of all the frog spawn.

I made a little stack of papers with a twine threaded button on top, which I repeated in varying sizes at three points on the page. Think I've probably mentioned before this is a favourite thing for me to create.

And my husband really lucked out with this photograph! He kept saying he couldn't see what he was snapping because of the sun on the screen, but he actually got the best shot of the day.

Supplies:
Papers: Bazzill Basics cardstock; October Afternoon, Cakewalk; Lilybee design, Kite Strings; AC, Daydream; scrpas from my stash
Alpha: AC thickers, subway
Dies: Avery Elle, pinked; Lawn Fawn, large stitched circle stackables
Punch: Martha Stewart, heart
Embellishments: hemp twine & buttons from my stash

Also today I'd like to share March's photos of three things that made me smile:

1. Beautiful flowers on Mother's Day

2. Those frogs again, coming out of hibernation - or whatever they do all Winter - to spawn noisily in my pond.

3. The chance to meet up with old work colleagues for a lovely lunch. Dreadful photo, but that's selfies on the phone for you. But it did make me laugh - grimace type of smile!

Thanks for coming to look at my blog today, I do appreciate your time. And keep crafting!
