CAS Colours & Sketches #128

This is my second post for today, scroll on down or click here if you're looking for the Uniko bloghop.

This week at CAS Colours & Sketches it's a sketch designed by DT member Lizy. And a really super one too!

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.co.uk/

I've been having a great pash on butterflies recently and am totally smitten by Visible Image's range of butterflies. So I indulged myself with this card selecting a colour combo of purple mixed with a bit of turquoise and came up with this:

I used two colours of washi tape for the vertical strip, first putting down the turquoise and then overlaying it with purple. I'm loving how the turquoise peeps through.

The washi set my colours, but I jazzed up the butterflies with a generous layer of Wink of Stella and drew in their antennae, which got trimmed off when I hand cut the butterflies, with a thin sharpie pen.

Supplies:
Stamps: Visible Image, butterfly
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black
Colours: Promarkers, violet, cool aqua; Flexmarkers, cloud blue, cadet blue
Embellishments: turquoise & purple washi tape from my stash; Wink of Stella, clear; Sharpie pen, black

I'm poppng this card into the challenge at Addicted to CAS where the code word is Butterfly.

http://addictedtocas.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/challenge-65-butterfly.html
And at The Card Concept where the inspiration photo colours and butterflies are so pretty. I'm thinking maybe my style is clean and layered.

Thank you for visiting my blog today and I hope you'll find time to visit all the other DT blogs, not forgetting our fabulous guest designer for June - Jan. They all have amazing cards to inspire you.

Uniko - Pure Florals Gerbera Revisited

WOW! WOW! WOW!

This has to be THE most special thing that has happened since I started blogging - I've been asked to join the Uniko Design Team. HUGE excitement! Can't even begin to tell you how thrilled I am,  my feet haven't touched the floor since I got the ask!

So my very first post as a member of Uniko's DT is to join in with the blog hop to revisit the beautiful Pure Florals Gerbera stamp set. New releases are every other month and revisits are the in-between months.

So tah dah - here's my first take:

I based the layout on a photo I found on Pinterest. I made myself a board all about gerberas while I was round at my dad's - it satisfied the desire to create a little! Here's the link.

And here's the one that sparked my imagination:

YOUTUBE CHANNEL:https://www.youtube.com/user/TheFederic777 FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/GardenFlowers2015 http://tips-to-help-you-the-gerberas-2.blogspot.com/ #Video #gerberas #flowers

I also printed a copy before going home and my dad's printer doesn't get used that often and the yellows had got blocked so it came out pink. And that's my excuse for indulging my passion for pink and purple colours. Yeah, if you follow me you'll know that I would probably have used those colours anyway!

I loved the raindrops on the photo and tried to emulate them by using glossy accents. I think it works quite well.

Supplies:
Stamps:
Uniko, Pure Florals Gerbera
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black
Colours: Promarkers, marsh green, purple, vanilla; Flexmarker, shocking pink
Die: Lil'inker, stitched mats rectangles
Embellishments: Glossy Accents; sequins from my stash

And I just couldn't resist making another card. And this one does have some yellow, but yeah I know, still mostly pink.

And I actually managed to get a shot that shows the beautiful glisten of the Wink of Stella.

Supplies:
Stamps:
Uniko, Pure Florals Gerbera
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black, rose bud, dandelion
Embellishment: Wink of Stella, clear

Here's the blog hop order:

Jane (that's me)

As my second card uses the colours of sunset I'm going to pop it into the current challenge at Less is More.

We'd love you to display our banner

And also at Addicted To Stamps where they want Summer Colours.

The Male Room #12

Oh I'm so excited about the new challenge at The Male Room! When I started as a DT member there one of the things I said I would do was to make the occasional scrapbook page when the theme was fitting. Well this fortnight's challenge offered that opportunity and I'm really hoping everyone will like it.

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2015/06/challenge-12-technique-add-tag.html

And it turned out to be one of those pages that really got my imagination and creativity going and I absolutely love how it came together.

The photo was a humdinger! And I've been hoarding the paper and stickers from Creative Imaginations for ever waiting for the right moment to actually cut into them. And this was definitely it - I didn't even waver for a second - sorry only other paper strokers will understand that.

The tags are actually luggage tags that I stamped all over and then stuck to a piece of A4 paper before running through my printer to add the Harry Potter quotes.

It was one of those pages that I just couldn't stop adding things to. I so enjoyed all the stamping and am particularly pleased with the extra magic coming out of the cauldron made using a Visible Image stamp and wooden stars.

Supplies:
Papers: Magnolia Ink, So Spooky; Creative Imaginations, purple harlequin
Stickers: Creative Imaginations, Wizard
Stamps: Kaisercraft, grid; Clearly Besotted, Fright Night, Lavinia Stamps, bat, spider, cobweb; Visible Image, Universal
Inks: Memento, tuxedo black; Ranger distress, dusty concord; SU, basic grey
Embellishments: Scarp 365, wooden mini stars
Quotes: From Harry Potter, computer generated using Harry Potter font

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today. I'm really hoping you like my take on the challenge. Hop on over to The Male Room next and be inspired by the rest of the wonderful DT creations.

And keep crafting!

AAA Cards Game #41 Woodland Animals

The first AAA Cards challenge for June is a really great theme - Woodland Animals. For me a fantastic opportunity to indulge the 'Ahh' factor and go all cutesie.

http://www.aaacards.blogspot.co.uk/

And how lucky was I to discover this patchwork fox hiding in my stash - a freebie gift from a magazine that I've been hoarding for ever.

I decided to try to pick up on the sewing idea from the stamp and used a brand new embroidery hoop die from Neat & Tangled. I used to do a lot of cross stitch and embroidery and still dabble from time to time when the mood takes me.

Continuing the sewing idea I ran the coloured image through a quilting embossing folder and framed the whole lot with a stitched square. I just finished off with a sprinkle dot on his oh so cute nose and made his eyes shine with a Sakura pen. Love him!

Supplies:
Stamps: Oscar & pals freebie from Cardmaking & Papercraft mag; SU, So You
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black
Colours: Promarkers, fuchsia pink, pink carnation, marsh green, blossom, tulip yellow, vanilla, mustard; Sakura, white gelly roll, black glaze
Dies: Lawn Fawn, large stitched square stackables; Neat & Tangled, hoop
Embossing: Docrafts, quilting
Embellishments: Doodlebug sprinkles, beetle black asst.

Now I wonder what the other AAA Cards DT have come up with to get your creativity going? Why not pop over to take a look - here. You'll not be disappointed!

Thanks for coming by to say hello today. I do so appreciate your visit.

And keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #127

As usual a new month at CAS Colours & Sketches begins with a colour challenge. Lizy is our hostess for June and she has picked three of the brand new in-colours from Stampin' Up to inspire us this month.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2015/06/challenge-127-colours.html
Now I'm thinking most of you are going to be in the same boat as me and not have been able to get your hands on the new colours yet. But fear not, as always there is no obligation to use Stampin' Up inks just choose from your stash as close as possible to the given colours. Here's my card:

Not too bad a colour match - well on my screen it looks okay! And I lucked out with that mint spotty card strip.

I stamped the jug and the grasses first before die cutting the label shape. I stamped the jug a second time on a scrap of card and cut it out to cover all the stems that I decided looked a bit messy. Then I put the label die cut back into its hole and stamped the sentiment right across. Finally the label was mounted on to pads to add dimentsion.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Simple Silhouettes
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, SU, pool party, sahara sand; Adirondack, watermelon
Die: Spellbinders, small label

So now all you need to do is check out the rest of the DT inspiration cards and then get busy creating your own. Have fun!

Thanks for looking. And keep crafting!

The Memory Nest - Make It Monday 41

A new month and a new challenge at The Memory Nest. A super new sketch to start a super new month.

http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2015/06/make-it-monday-no-41.html

And a new trick learnt by my little cutie. So addictive! I can't help encouraging him to repeat it over and over even though I know further down the line I'll not be so pleased to see it happen.

I cut a journalling card in half and placed the two pieces either side of the photo. I also stamped some extra clouds for good measure and a hello sunshine sentiment. This was our first really warm day and the garden umbrellas were rescued from the garage for their first appearance this year.

As there were some vellum clouds in the paper pack I used I added a couple of vellum strips for the vertical element from the sketch. I stamped a sun and another cloud onto them.

Lastly I stamped a row of hearts and added a trio of chipboard hearts - always an essential addition for me with baby pages!

Supplies:
Papers: MME, Cut & Paste
Alphas: Lawn Fawn, Louie's ABC; Ali Edwards, white alpha
Stamps: Lawn Fawn, Hello Sunshine
Inks: SU, crushed curry, night of navy
Embellishments: MME, Cut & Paste

So many 'new' things today and as June is one of my favourite months I've decided to take one photo every day throughout the month. A new challenge! I'll be sharing them here on my blog every so often and I'm hoping having been bold enough to share this idea with you all I'll be so motivated to succeed. Watch this space!

Thanks so much for looking today. Don't forget to head on over to The Memory Nest to check out what the rest of the DT have created. And remember you can use the sketch to make a card if that's more your bag.

And keep crafting!
