The Memory Nest - Make It Monday 43

Today sees the first Make It Monday July challenge begin over at The Memory Nest. You're going to love using this sketch whether it's scrapbooking or cardmaking that is your thing.

http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2015/07/make-it-monday-no-43.html

I fell in love with this paper from the Simple Stories Say Cheese collection as soon as I opened the packet - yes I just had to have the whole collection, you know how it is! And of course I've got the perfect model for my photos who never says 'not another photograph'.

I'm so enjoying the magic of being a granny all over again, seems I never tire of being amazed and impressed by every little step of his development.

I used a couple of the clips from the collection and a trimmed down card. And I picked up on the stars already on the paper by adding some extras taken from a shaker sequin collection.

And my journalling says it all! But of course is now completely out of date!

Supplies:
Papers, stickers & clips: Simple Stories, Say Cheese & Say Cheese II
Embellishments: Simple Stories, diy burlap stickers; Lucy's Cards Little Things, gold dust stars

Do go check out the rest of the DT creations and our fabulous Guest Designer for July, Kerry Bruce, at The Memory Nest. And Leslie is increasing your chances to win this month, go see what she has on offer.

Thanks for spending some time with me today, I do appreciate it. And keep crafting!

AAA Cards #43 - Stars

This fortnight at AAA Cards Linda has chosen the theme of stars.

http://www.aaacards.blogspot.co.uk/

I imagine all you US folks will have been celebrating yesterday and will have seen plenty of stars to spike your imaginations. Well here's a card to add to that using stars in a different way altogether.

I used the huge falling stars stamp from Simon Says Stamp and inked it up with my ombre pool to navy pad.

I added a quick brush of the same colours over the top and die cut a layered feature star with a star gem in the centre.

Supplies:
Stamps: Simon Says Stamps, falling stars; Clearly Besotted, Superstar
Inks: Hero Arts Ombre, pool to navy; SU, coastal cabanna; Ranger Distress, chipped sapphire
Embellishments: Doodlebug, star jewels

So have you got stars in your eyes now? Hoping you'll share your vision over at AAA Cards.

Your visit to my blog today is much appreciated, be sure to hop over to the rest of the DT too.

And keep crafting!

Saturday Slot

Just sneaking in with my photo for Our Beautiful World's current theme - TWO is better than one.

 http://www.our--beautiful--world--365.blogspot.com.au/2015/06/obw-103-two-is-better-than-one-obw-2nd.html

And the story is:
How difficult it was to get this shot. You are such a wriggly baby and never want to keep still. This added to the fact that I needed your mouth open made things very tricky. So one hand on your mouth, talking to you to make eye contact so you'd keep fairly still, the other hand holding the camera and clicking without loosing focus or dropping it on your head. Well I'm amazed this shot is as clear as it is - definitely a time when two people would have been better than one!

I'm also sharing my last collage of a photo a day for June:

The stories:
  • strawberry picking - not done this for years! So why did we pick such a bakingly hot day? Probably because we hadn't done it for years and had forgotten how exposed we'd be. Being years older is not an advantage either - bending and crouching such agony!
  • Murray chomping on a treat biscuit. Two seconds later he stood up, did a lovely pose, but ran off too quickly for my finger to click.
  • cherries on the tree in my garden before the birds have found them.
Thanks for looking today, your time is much appreciated.

And keep taking photographs!

CAS Colours & Sketches #131

Hello and welcome. Today sees the beginning of my month as hostess over at CAS Colours & Sketches. As always the first challenge of the month is a colour one and boy did I make hard work out of choosing the colours. Every combination that came to mind already seemed to have been used, but eventually with a lot of double checking and help I came up with this combo:

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2015/07/challenge-131-colours.html

What do you think? I'm really hoping you'll like how they look together and be inspired to rifle through your stash and get creative. Here's my card:

Wednesday Words

Hi and welcome to my blog at the beginning of a brand new month. July sees the second birthday of my tentative entry into the world of blogging. I never imagined I'd make it this far and I was so unsure about it all back then. Well I think I'm really settled into it now and really enjoy connecting with all you positive crafty folk. Thanks to everyone who has inspired me and left such lovely confidence boosting comments. I love you all!

So on to today's share. There's such a super CAS sketch at Less is More this week I just had to play along. And Inkspirational has a word prompt - WILD - so that got me thinking!

http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/week-230-sketch.html               http://inkspirationalchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/challenge-85-word-prompt-wild.html

So here's my card:

I kept everything very clean and true to the sketch as I love its simplicity. I decided to pare down the colours for this card too and choose only to highlight the poppies with colour. This is one of my all time favourite stamps from inkylicious. And poppies are wild flowers, so that's my wild element.

Supplies:
Stamps: Inkylicious, Poppy Lea & Twinchie sentiment
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black
Promarker: Poppy

Thanks so much for looking at my blog today, I do appreciate you spending some of your time here.

And keep crafting!
