AAA Cards - Challenge #50 CAS Halloween

Although we always ask for CAS cards at AAA Cards the new challenge starting today has CAS in its title and means we'll be less lenient when it comes to picking winners.

http://aaacards.blogspot.com/2015/10/game-50-clean-and-simple-halloween.html

So maybe a definition of CAS would be helpful? Here's what I use as guidelines:
  • one main image
  • minimal layers
  • minimal embellishments
  • white space (doesn't have to be white, just empty)
And here's my card following those guidelines:

I inlaid the die cut into the base card, so in my book it's a one layer card. There is one main image, no embellishments and lots of purple coloured white space.

And here's a second version which I would still consider to be CAS, but perhaps not adhering to the guidelines quite so strictly because of the layers.

Supplies:
Stamps: Digid Stamp Boutique, Halloween Duchess; Clearly Besotted, Fright Night
Inks: Memento, tuxedo black; SU, whisp[er white
Dies: Lawn Fawn, large stitched circle stackables; Lil'inker, stitched mats rectangles
Prp markers: tulip yellow, leaf green, cool grey 1,4,5, violet, spice, peach, burnt orange, marsh green, tan, ivory

Well I'm hoping this post will have been helpful and inspired you to give CAS Halloween a try. Remember to pop on over to see what the rest of the DT have created - here.

Thanks for dropping by today. And keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #145

This week at CAS Colours & Sketches it's a sketch challenge and a very simple but interesting one designed by DT Stef.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2015/10/challenge-145-sketch.html

I decided to create a little scene on one of the tags using the gorgeous new to my stash Clearly Besotted woodland stamps - they're just so cute!

I always love how it's possible to cram so much onto a small piece of card and still achieve a CAS look with the whole card.

I created the circles from the sketch by drawing round the inside of a tape roll several times with a fine point pen.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Woodland Kisses, Diagonal Stripes
Inks: Distress Ink, stormy sky; Memento, bamboo leaves, tuxedo black
Pro markrs: poppy, sandstone, pear green, tulip yellow, mustard, cool grey1
Die: Big Shot labels

If you haven't already checked out the rest of the DT creations go be amazed - here. And then don't waste any time get crafting and entering!

Thanks for dropping by today, your visit is greatly appreciated. And keep crafting!

Wednesday Words

Another card for October's Happy Little Stamper challenges, but today it's using their sketch.

http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.com.au/2015/10/hls-october-sketch-challenge.html

I have gone a little off piste for this card and rotated the sketch a full half turn - upside down in other words.

I used a die to make the stitched curved line and then three very beautiful Uniko snowflakes instead of the houses.

A die cut stitched rectangle sentiment mat replaces the sun and clouds and the whole lot is matted onto some matt navy blue card.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Stunning Snowflakes
Inks: SU, night of navy, marina mist
Dies: Paper smooches, stitched; Lil'inker, stitched mats rectangles

Once again I'm very happy to have had you visit my blog, thank you!  And keep crafting!

Tuesday Talk

Today I'm sharing a card I've made for a friend's birthday - hoping she doesn't read my blog - and also for this month's CAS challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.com.au/2015/10/hls-october-cas-challenge.html

Ever since I first saw the Uniko Cosmos stamp set I've thought about how it would look paper pieced so this was the perfect opportunity.

I picked papers in colours that I know my friend likes and stamped the flowers three times - once onto the card, and once on each piece of paper. A bit of fussy cutting later and my flowers were completed.

I kept my card very CAS and just die cut a stitched square and added a sentiment across the top. Loving the simplicity, hope my friend will too!

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Pure Florals Cosmao
Inks: Memento, tuxedo black
Ppaers: Forever Friends Summer Time
Promarker: marsh green
Dies: Lawn Fawn, stitched square stackables

Thank you so much for spending some of your time looking at my blog today. And keep crafting!

Monday Moments

Just a quick post today to share a card I made yesterday for Less is More. Just couldn't resist their jewel colours theme this week - so up my street!

We'd love you to display our banner

So here's my card:

I used my ombre ink pad to stamp the hearts and then die cut a stitched rectangle and a heart aperture.

The card beneath the heart got a liberal covering of wink of stella and the camera has actually caught a bit of the shimmer for a change.

Supplies:
Stamps: Neat & Tangled, Falling Hearts; Clearly Besotted, sentiment from Woodland Kisses
Inks: Hero Arts, ombre pink to red; SU, rich razzleberry
Dies: Xcut, Homespun Heart; Lil'inker, stitched mats rectangles
Wink of Stella, clear

Thanks for looking today. And keep crafting!

And here's my page using the sketch from The Memory Nest:

Such a fabulous background paper from the Summer vibes collection don't you think?

With such a busy background paper I used toning plain coloured cardstock for the three paper layers in the sketch. I'm loving the look of the aqua letters on that watermelon wonder card.

I kept embellishments simple, just adding matching stickers popped up on foam pads on top of some elements from the paper and added a few extra stickers from the same collection too. That's one of the beauties of paper collections, everything mixes and matches so easily.

I stamped onto the label at the top right of the paper and added a little market stall style of border under it. I repeated this border in two other places on my page - you know I like things in threes!

Supplies:
Papers: Simple Stories, Summer Vibes; SU, mint macaron, watermelon wonder, delightful dijon
Stickers, Chipboard & Alphas: Simple Stories, Summer Vibes
Stamps: Uniko , All Occasion Sentiments #6
Ink: SU, mint macaron

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today. Have fun creating for the Fest!

CAS Colours & Sketches #144

Hi and welcome to a new month of challenges at CAS Colours & Sketches. As always the first challenge is colours and they've been picked by our October hostess Stef.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2015/10/challenge-144-colours.html

Fab colours aren't they?  So I went with a sort of Christmas theme and those icy blues spoke snow to me.

Don't you just love that die cut frame and arrow? Loving how it looks in gold mirri card, so going to be using this in my December Daily album.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Stunning Snowflakes
Inks: SU, night of navy, soft sky
Die: Technique Tuesday, That Arrow Card

Make sure you pop on over to the CC&S blog and admire the beautiful creations of the DT. We're welcoming Brenda Hofstatter as our Guest Designer for October, visit her blog here.

Thanks for your visit today, I really appreciate your time. And keep crafting!
