Tuesday Talk

It's seems such a long time since I last made a card for a challenge rather than a DT sample that I decided to put this right. And what better way to get back in the swing of things than with the Blast From The Past Colour Challenge at Inkspirational.

http://inkspirationalchallenges.blogspot.ca/2016/01/challenge-100-blast-from-past-and-prize.html

I've chosen colours from  #51, purple, white, green (pick 2 or 3) and created a card to say thanks for all their 100 challenges. No prizes for guessing why this colour combo spoke to me!

And I broke open a stamp set that I've not used for ages - seems to be my time for rediscovering things!

I did that partially hiding thing with the enamel dots and used some favourite washi and a stitched die.

Supplies:
Stamps: SU, Oh, Hello
Ink: Memento, grape jelly
Die: Lawn Fawn, large stitched square stackables
Embellishments: Doodlebug Sprinkles, day to day asst; washi from my stash

Thanks for dropping by today, your visting is much appreciated.

And keep crafting!

The Memory Nest - Make It Monday Challenge #52

Time for the second January sketch at The Memory Nest And it's a bit of a beauty wouldn't you say!

http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2016/01/make-it-monday-no-52.html

This was one of those pages that just flew together and I'm loving that I was able to use some of the left over papers from my December Daily album.

And it's so good to have at least one member of the family who doesn't winge and whine when I get the camera out.  My problem with him is snapping quick enough before he moves - multiple blurred images!

I loved the proportions and shapes on this sketch straight away but wanted so much to use these two rectangular photos. I solved this by cutting the mats into the two different sized squares and printing the photos different sizes too. I think it works, but what do you think?

The ROARR is not a mispelling, that's just how it is on the onesie - in fact it has three Rs on the end but I didn't have enough Rs left for that.

Supplies:
Ppaer: Kaisercraft, A Touch of Gold
Alphas: Simple Stories, Legacy; Freckled Fawn, Puffy Alphabet Stickers
Die: Xcut, spiro circles

Go visit the rest of the DT's interpretations of this fabulous sketch at The Memory Nest - you'll be inspired!

Thanks for looking at my blog today, you time and company is really appreciated.

And keep crafting!

AAA Cards Challenge #54 - Winter Wonderland

How's your weather? Have you had snow? Well here's your chance to get some on your cards. AAA Cards new challenge has the theme of Winter Wonderland.

http://aaacards.blogspot.com/2016/01/game-56-winter-wonderland.html

As with all our 2016 challenges there's a prize for the winner and this fortnight it's from Make It Crafty. All the DT have used a digi stamp from Make It Crafty on their cards to showcase the brand.

I chose Jasmine drinking hot chocolate - don't we all in cold weather -  and placed her onto a strip of sparkly silver tape in front of a snowy scene window. I kept all my colours to chilly shades of blue and grey and added some bokeh spots of glitter.

I die cut the square window and created my scene with masks and stamps before popping it back into the aperture to keep the layers to a minimum to stay CAS. Jasmine is mounted onto foam pads and I like the shadow this creates.

Supplies:
Stamps: Make It Crafty, Jasmine Hot Chocolate; Uniko, Background Builders Vines Winter Additions, Stunning Snowflakes
Ink: SU, soft sky, night of navy, whisper white; Memento, tuxedo black
Die: Lawn Fawn, large stitched square stackables
Promarkers: coll grey 1, 2, 3, & 4, china blue, cool aqua, cobalt blue, blue pearl, caramel, blush, dusky pink, ivory
Embellishments: Deco Art, glamour dust crystal; Forever Friends, silver washi tape

Have you already checked out the rest of the DT creations? If not you can find them here. Looking forward to seeing your Winter Wonderlands!

Thanks for spending some time looking at my blog today, hope you enjoyed it.

CAS Colours & Sketches #156

The first 2016 sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches begins today. Patricia designed this sketch to honor Leslie of The Crooked Stamper who sadly passed away on Christmas Day.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2016/01/challenge-156-sketch.html

And this is my birthday interpretation of it:

I decided to cut the oval shape from a strip of white card which I popped up onto pads before adhering to a precious last piece of mint macaron card. This also made the top and bottom stripes.

I stamped, coloured and handcut the butterfly before popping it up on pads and attaching it in place of the circle. A trio of sprinkle enamel dots and I was done.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, English Country Garden, Simply Said Birthday
Inks: Memento, tuxedo black
Die: Spellbinders, petite ovals large
Card: SU, mint macarom
Embellishments: Doodlebug Sprinkles, cupcake asst.

How will you use the sketch? Check out the rest of the DT creations - here - for more inspiration.

Thanks for your visit today, I really appreciate you taking the time.  and keep crafting!

Uniko - Always & Forever Revisited

This month at Uniko we're revisiting a much loved stamp set of mine - Always & Forever. And with Valentine's Day coming up what could be more on trend than that?

http://unikostudio.blogspot.com/2016/01/january-2016-design-team-blog-hop.html

Want to win this stamp set and more? Then check out all the DT sample cards and leave us some love and who knows it could be your lucky day! More details about the prize and bloghop order at the end of this post.

My first card is very CAS and I've let the stamp take centre stage. And I'm loving the striking effect of the ombre ink pad combined with this stamp.

I chose a stitched circle die to echo the stitching round the edge of the heart.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Always & Forever
Inks: Hero Arts Ombre, pool to navy
Die: Lawn Fawn, large stitched circle stackables

My second card features some of my favourite colours blended across the stamp. This was achieved using a kaleidacolor ink pad.

I used a stiched rectangular die to cut my heart panel and trimmed off the left hand side to keep it slimline before adding just a hint of purple under it.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Always & Forever
Inks: Kaleidacolor, berry blaze
Die: Lil'inker, stitched mats rectangles

My final card uses the other heart stamp from the set and mostly black with just a pop of bright turquoise along two sides.

Two of the black sprinkle enamel dots are partially hidden under the square mat - I'd seen this look around blogland quite a lot before Christmas and decided to give it a go myself.

I added a liberal coat of wink of stella to the heart which gives it a really glossy sparkly look in real life.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Always & Forever
Inks: Memento, tuxedo black
Die: Spellbinders, classic square large
Embellishments: Freckled Fawn, enamel dew drops; Wink of Stella

So all you need to do now is get hopping along to be in with a chance to win this featured set along with an eGift certificate for £10 to spend in store. Or if you already own this set an eGift certificate for £15. You have until midnight Sunday 17th Jan to comment and the winner will be announced on Monday 18th. Here's the blog hop order:

* Jane - that's me *
Lindsey

Thanks for dropping by today and here's hoping it's you that wins that prize. Good luck!

CAS Colours & Sketches #155

Today sees the first challenge for 2016 at CAS Colours & Sketches. And we're welcoming our new  Design Team members:  Beverley, Caro, Karen, and Liz!

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2016/01/challenge-155-colours.html

It's the first Thursday of the month, which means we have a colour challenge.  What will you create with these cool wintry colours?

I needed a get well card and used the colours as a backdrop for a silhouette stamp. The shadow is made by stamping for a second time without re-inking the stamp.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Simple Silhouettes, Geometric Style
Inks: SU, marina mist, pool party, smoky slate; Memento, tuxedo black
Die: Lil'inker, stitched mats rectangles

Have you got your New Year creativity going yet? Why not give these colours a try? Pop on over to CAS Colours & Sketches to check out all the DT designs and our fabulous Guest Designer for January - Maaike.

Thanks for visiting today. And keep crafting!
