CAS Colours & Sketches #159

A new month and a new hostess, but the same fabulous challenges at CAS Colours & Sketches! We're kicking off with a colour challenge and don't you just love these pretty colours chosen by Stef?

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2016/02/challenge-159-colours.html

Here's my sample card which I'm hoping may just inspire you enough to join in yourself.

I started by smooshing a pink pirouette splodgy background and then used a stencil to add some pumpkin pie round the edges. Next I stamped the large butterfly using melon mambo - which just has to be one of my all time favourite ink colours!

I'm thinking maybe I might use this card on a scrapbook page and that led my choice of sentiment. And butterflies are pretty incredible anyway.

Supplies:
Stamps:Uniko, English Country Gareden - Butterflies; Technique Tuesday, Incredible by Ali Edwards
Inks: SU, pumpkin pie, pink pirouette, melon mambo
Stencil: Memory Box, texture mesh
Punch: Xcut, corner rounder
Embellishments: Ppaermania, adhesive pearls

So of you go now to soak up all the DT deliciousness over at CAS Colours & Sketches and then raid your craft stash and get creating!

Thanks for visiting today, your time is much appreciated.  And keep crafting!

The Male Room Challenge #28

A new challenge at The Male Room begins today and the theme is ORIENTAL.

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2016/02/challenge-28-theme.html

Well that theme had me stumped for a while. I don't have any oriental stamps and I couldn't get my head around it needing to be a male themed oriental card anyway. Then I had a blast from the past and remembered teaching about the Chinese New Year and all the animals involved in the story and I do have animal stamps!

So this year I believe it's the turn of the monkey, so that's what I went with. I chose lush reds and golds as my colour scheme - seem to rememebr they are considered happy colours.

I embossed the gold circle stamps and coloured in the monkey using promarkers.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Sunburst, Wild thing
Inks: Memento, tuxedo black; SU, real red; Versamark
Embossing: Personal Impressions, mirror gold
Promarkers: vanilla, mustard, burnt orange, caramel, umber

Go take a look at the inspiring cards of my team mates at The Male Room, clever aren't they?

Thanks for your visit today, your time is much appreciated. And keep crafting!

The Memory Nest - Make It Monday Challenge #53

Today sees the first February challenge at The Memory Nest. The sketch can be used for a scrapbook page or a card - whatever is your thing.

http://thememorynest.blogspot.com/2016/01/make-it-monday-no-53.html

And as you know scrapbooking is really my thing and I'm always looking for opportunities to share pages as a change from cards. So here's my page:

And it uses one of those unexpected precious moments photos, snapped when both of them were so engrossed they didn't even look up when I clicked.

I used one of the photo spaces from the sketch for my journalling and created a homemade tag to fit the spot. I used a grid paper for the background and then stamped some sentiments. I find having a grid helps to keep my writing straight and spaced.

I stapled three ribbon loops to the top of the photo mat and a wooden star matted onto a diecut star. The stars were repeated along the left hand strip - I like trios of the same thing!

Supplies:
Papers: My Mind's Eye, the sweetest thing; Chatterbox, scrapbook walls; Scraps from my stash
Stamps: STAMPlorations, noteworthy; Maya Road, spool sentiments
Ink: SU, night of navy
Alpha: Papermania, birdsong
Die: Xcut, stars
Embellishments: Scrap 365, wooden shapes, ribbon from my stash; mini stapler

My team mates at The Memory Nest have loads more inspiring ways to use this sketch, so go take a look.

Thanks for looking today, I value your company and time. And keep crafting!
