Uniko - Challenge #34

Today sees the beginning of the new challenge at Uniko and it's such a classic theme this month you're all going to want to play - FLOWERS.

And here's my card:

I started by creating a watercoloured background with a small white border. Super easy to do this by using masking tape to hold the card down and it has the added bonus of stopping the card from curling too.

Once dry I stamped the hisbiscus flower repeatedly round the bottom corner using the masking technique to get depth. I then coloured just the pointy bit of the flowers - sure it must have a proper name! Finally I added the sentiments and some sequins.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Paradise
Inks: Ranger distress, mustard seed, picked raspberry, wilted violet; Memento, grape jelly
Promarkers: tulip yellow, pink carnation
Sequins from my stash

I know this is going to be a massive turn out challenge and I'm really looking forward to seeing all the flowers blooming in the gallery. Go check out the cards designed by my Uniko teamies and our lovely Guest Designer Carol from Just Me:C, then get picking your flowers.

So thrilled to have you drop by today, your time is much appreciated.  And keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #182

Today sees the start of a sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and it's my turn to be hostess.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2016/07/sketch-challenge-182.html

I designed this sketch way back in June as I wanted to make an earth view shaker card for my grandson's birthday. He's very into space and Star Wars, so I thought he might enjoy this little twist on a shaker card.

I die cut the stitched aperature and placed a photo of the earth from space behind it. I then added some star and luminescent sequins on top before sealing the shaker window.

I chose dark blue card to represent the darkness of space and added a simple white die cut sentiment below the shaker window.

Supplies:
Dies: MFT Die-namics, Peek-a-Boo Circle Window; Lawn Fawn, Happy Birthday Border
Image: Pixabay
Sequins: Lucy's Cards, star shine

You'll be pleased to know he had a fabulous birthday with a barbecue on the beach - toasting marshmallows was involved - and a fabulous sweet filled birthday cake.

I hope you'll join in and play along with my sketch. Check out the rest of the DT cards at CC&S and then be inspired and get your crafting hat on!

Thanks for looking today, I really appreciate your time. And keep crafting!

Wednesday Words

Well today's card couldn't be more different from yesterday's super CAS creation. Today I'm playing along at Happy Little Stampers CASE the Designer Challenge and there are layers and embellishments, but I think  just enough 'white' space to still consider it borderline CAS.

http://www.happylittlestampers.com/2016/07/july-case-designer-carol-steedman.html

Here's my Carol Steedman inspired card:

I started by creating the little background scene on a stitched die cut rectangle. I lightly drew around the inside of the larger die so I knew the size of the space that needed filling. The frame was made by die cutting and embossing the larger die and then placing the nexr size down die inside to cut the aperture.

The cute cat and mouse were stamped, coloured and hand cut and popped onto pads to raise them up. A trio of hearts and the sentiment came next, then the whole thing was matted onto the taupe card before adhering to a white card base.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Best Friends
Inks: SU, soft sky, emerald envy, soft suede
Card: SU, tip top taupe
Dies: Spellbindrs, small labels; Lil'inker, stitched mats rectangles; Lawn Fawn, hearts
Promarkers: sunkissed pink, umber, cinnamon, caramel

Phew! It's been a while since I've put so many layers and elements on a card and had such a long supply list.

And I've just discovered I was a winner with this same challenge last month - here. How exciting is that!

Thanks for looking at my blog today, your visit has been greatly appreciated.  And keep crafting!

Uniko - July Revisit Blog Hop

This month at Uniko we're revisiting Paradise Hummingbird. A brilliant choice as it mixes and matches so well with last month's tropical release.

For my first card I decided to try something completely new to me - an acetate card front.

I created my background rays and stamped the sentiment first, then stamped and hand cut the flower and the bird. The flower was attached to the card and the bird on the acetate. Loving the 3D look this gives.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Paradise Hummingbird
Inks: Memento, rose bud, tuxedo black; SU, cucumber crush; Ranger distress, peacock feather, cracked pistachio, blueprint sketch
Promarkers: ivoru, blossom
Stencil: Memory Box, Texture Shine
Embellishment: Papermania, iridescent gem

My second card uses just the flowers and is much more like my usual style - CAS!

I die cut the window panel first and then faintly marked on the base card where the windows would be. I stamped the flower in different orientations and shades of pinky purples - trying for a bit of an ombre effect. I then finished off each flower by adding a apatch of satin promarker at the base of the petals.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Paradise Hummingbird
Inks: SU, melon mambo, rose red, rich razzleberry, wild wasabi
Promarker: satin

I know you'd like to win this stamp set, so all you need to do is leave a comment on the DT blogs by midnight Sunday 17th July 2016 to be in with the chance of winning both the stamp set and a £5.00 gift certificate. How easy is that? Here's the bloghop order to help you on your way round:

CAS Colours & Sketches #181

Here we are at the beginning of July with the first CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge for the month. These colours were chosen by Caro our hostess for this week's challenge. We're doing things a bit differently throughout July and August and taking it in turns to host one challenge each - gives everyone a bit of a break during the busy Summer holiday months.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2016/07/colour-challenge-181.html

And today's card uses my new totally swoonable Touches of Texture stamp set from Stampin Up. I'm thinking this one might just replace Gorgeous Grunge as my all time favourite.

I started with the stem, then the splattery flower head and finally the sprinkles - all from this new set.

And I chose the sentiment because..... well it says it all really!

Supplies:
Stamps: SU, Touches of Texture & Botanicals For You
Inks: SU, cucumber crush, soft suede, elegant eggplant

So off you go now and be totally inspired by the rest of the DT creations at CC&S. And did you know we also have a facebook page? It'd be great if you decided to follow us.

Thanks for your time and company today.  And keep crafting!

The Male Room - #39 Make Flowers Masculine

OK so here's a challenge - flowers on a male card. The Male Room really likes to keep everyone on their toes and searching out ideas and creativity!

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2016/07/challenge-39.html

So having scratched my head for a while I came up with this:

I think the two DT cards from the buttons challenge - here - that were jacket shaped inspired me and I remembered gents wear buttonholes with a wedding suit.

And although it wasn't planned - or maybe I should pretend it was totally intentional - I'm really loving the ribbed effect on this piece of black card I found hiding in my stash.

Supplies:
Paper: Lawn Fawn, Beachside
Punches: Martha Stewart

How are you feeling about using flowers on a male themed card? I'm hoping to find out when I see your cards popping up in The Male Room gallery - it will definitely be a very different sort of gallery to our normal won't it?

Huge thanks for visiting today, I'm always really pleased to have your company.  And keep crafting!
