CAS Colours & Sketches #187

Oooh, just look at these yummy pinks combined with chocolate in this week's CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge. Mmmm!

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2016/08/colour-challenge-187.html

Seems I've got a bit of a feathers thing going on at the moment and I used the two pinks to stamp a trio of beautifully detailed feathers from Clearly Besotted. I think i love these feathers almost as much as the colours!

I stamped the fun sentiment in chocolate chip and then matted the whole thing onto a piece of flirty flamingo cardstock.

Did I say how much I love the detailing on these feather stamps? Amazing1

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Tickle My Fancy
Inks: SU, flirty flamingo, chocolate chip, sweet sugarplum
Card: SU, flirty flamingo

So how will you use these colours? Go see the rest of CC&S DT cards for more inspiration before you get busy with them on your card.

Huge thanks for visiting my blog today. And keep crafting!

The Male Room - #42 Use Shaving Foam

I have to say out of all my DT gigs The Male Room constantly challenges me to step outside of my comfort zone the most. And this fortnight's technique is so new to me - shaving foam!

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2016/08/challenge-42-technique.html

Who would have thought shaving foam could lead to such amazing results - and it smells really good too!

It took me a couple of tries to get the ratio of foam and ink to a mix that I was pleased with, but then there was no holding me back.  I chose these tropical forest colours as I wanted to use that Uniko toucan and thought they would make a good backdrop to showcase him against.

I tidied up the top edge of my shaving foam marbling with a strip of black washi, popped the toucan up on pads and added a split sentiment to complete my card.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Paradise
Inks: Ranger distress re-inkers, peacock feathers & mowed lawn
Promarkers: burnt orange, cool grey 5, azure
Embellishments: Washi from my stash

This is such a fun technique you're so going to love having a try! Check here for the rest of The Male Room DT adventures with foam and then get your creative hat on and enjoy!

Thanks for dropping by my blog today, hope you found it fun.  And keep crafting!

The Memory Nest - Make It Monday Challenge #69

This is my second DT challenge for August at The Memory Nest, but it's actually the third August Challenge over there. Thropughout August we've been split into two teams and there's a prize to be won each week as well as a grand prize at the end of the month. The more times you enter the more chance you have of winning!

http://thememorynest.blogspot.co.uk/

My page is all about the weather and my garden. I always include a page around this theme in my yearly album. and this year I used the Simple Stories Bloom & Grow collection - a perfect match for this page.

I loved the straight linear line of this sketch and once the basics were there had great fun adding all the embellishments.

We had a really slow start to Summer warmth this year so I definitely homed in quickly when we eventually got some sunshine. I have to say since then we've been really lucky with lots more wonderful sunshine and opportunities to sit out in the garden.

I used the instaweather app on my phone to snap this picture, love that it gives the place, date and time as well as the weather.

And this is a wild poppy that seeded itself and was a wonderful surprise - love the pink and purples!

Supplies:
Paper:Simple Stories, Bloom & Grow
Embellishments: All Simple Stories, Bloom & Grow - bits & pieces, chipboard stickers & expressions cardstock stickers

Have you seen the rest of The Memory Nest's DT creations yet? Fab aren't they? So what are you waiting for? Go get creating a scrapbook page or card using the sketch and who knows you could be the lucky winner!

I'm so pleased you had time to visit my blog today, thank you kindly.  And keep crafting!

AAA Cards - Game #71 Blending

How do you like mixing and blending colours? Well at AAA Cards this fortnight we'd like to see how you do it.

http://aaacards.blogspot.com/2016/08/game-71-blending.html

I realy love how the colours subtly change when they overlap each other and also that even using the same colours and stencil you get a different result every time.

I chose a feather stencil from Stamplorations for my card and not only overlapped the colours on each feather but also overlapped the feathers to get even more variation.

The feathers are quite large and took up nearly all the card space, so to ensure I still kept that important empty white space we CAS lovers always expect I matted the square onto a long landscape base card.

Supplies:
Stamp: Stamplorations, Imagine
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black; Ranger distress, picked raspberry, bluepring sketch, cracked pistachio
Stencil: Stamplorations, Feathers & Arrows
Die: MFT Die-namics, double stitched circle stax

Now it's your turn to get creating, but before you rush off to your craft space go check out what our fabulous Guest Designer, Michelle Balla, and the rest of the AAA Cards DT have come up with for this fabulous challenge theme.

Thanks for your visit. And keep crafting!

Friday Focus

Just popping in today to share a card I made for the CASE the Designer Challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

http://www.happylittlestampers.com/2016/08/august-case-designer-gloria-lee.html

Pretty awesome card by Gloria don't you think? Here's my card inspired by it:

I started by die cutting a spiro circle from masking paper and placing it fairly central onto a piece of white cardstock.  I then stamped the Uniko flowers and leaves round and over it picking up on the colours from Gloria's card.

I removed the mask and then stamped by sentiment and added some pearls to the flower middles - again picking up on the yellow flower centres from Gloria's card. Finally I added a scattering of pink and yellow sequins  to echo gloria's card once again.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Nature's treasures II, Flower Power #2 & #7; Inkylicious, twinchie sentiment
Inks: Memento, tuxedo black, bahama blue, bamboo leaves, rose bud, dandelion
Die: Xcut, spiro circles
Embellishments: Doodlebug mini pearls, Spring asst; sequins from my stash

Thrilled to have you visit today, thanks so much.  And keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #186

Time for another sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. This one, designed by Bev our hostess for this week, is something just a little bit different I'm thinking.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2016/08/sketch-challenge-186.html

I went with a pretty literal interpretation of that funky banner flash, it just reminded me of a winners's rosette so much that I felt drawn to add a circle to its middle.

I stuck to a very simple colour palette so that the card didn't become too busy and loose its CAS quality - and I think I've succeeded in this. My favourite trio of trios was my final finishing touch.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Big & Bold Wish, Background Builders Round In Circles, sequins from A Gift For You
Inks: SU, crushed curry; Memento, tuxedo black
Die: Clearly Besotted, Journal It
Embellishments: Simple Stories Bloom & Grow, enamel dots

I was excited to see what the rest of the DT created using this sketch - you can check their cards out over at CC&S. You'll not be disappointed!

Thanks for your time today, your visit is much appreciated. And keep crafting!

Uniko - August Revisit Blog Hop

This month at Uniko Bev is revisiting Pure Florals Chrysanthemum and I'm here today to share a trio of cards I've made to showcase this very gorgeous stamp set.

For my first card I stamped and heat embossed the chrysanthemum in white and then brushed on some diagonals of colour. I then die cut stitched rectangles from it and also from white cardstock before inlaying them alternately. I sprinkled some water onto the outside section to soften the diagonals a little.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Pure Florals Chrysanthemum
Inks: SU, tempting turquoise, melon mambo; Versamark; Memento, tuxedo black
Embossing: Ranger superfine, white
Dies: MFT Die-namics, double stitched rectangles
Sequins from my stash

My next card uses my new prisma color pencils and I was thrilled with the deep vibrant colour that can be achieved with them.

I drew three unevenly spaced lines on the left hand side to ground the flower.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Pure Florals Chrysanthemum & All Occasion Sentiments #1
Inks: Memento, tuxedo black
Colours: Prisma color

My last card was made for a niece's birthday and I chose colours that I knew she loves - ok I know they're sort of my colours too!

I dripped ink onto a baby wipe to get this random arrangement of colours and lucked out that the yellow and purple didn't mix into a muddy brown.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Pure Florals Chrysanthemum
Inks: Ranger distress re-inkers, mustard seed, worn lipstick, dusty concord' Memento, tuxedo black
Washi from my stash, think it's SU

Well, no doubt as you've probably already guessed, there will be a prize for a lucky person. So here's the bloghop order, just remember to leave a comment on each blog as you go and you could be the one!

Jane - that's me

Thanks for your time today and good luck! And remember to keep crafting!
