AAA Cards #137 - Made In Minutes + Dry Embossing

Today sees the start of another CAS challenge at AAA Cards. And it's a bit of a speed challenge too.

Our sponsor for this challenge is a UK company - Heffy Doodle. So of course I used one of their stamps.

I love this oversized greeting and jazzed it up a bit with a Kaleidacolor ink pad. I really liked the card just as it was, but thought I ought to give the optional twist of dry embossing a go. So I used my score board to add some vertical lines to the left hand side.

Oh and the made in minutes - about 10 or maybe even less I think. Yep, forgot to time myself!

Saturday Spot

Today I'm sharing a card I made using the sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches.

A super simple sketch, just how I like them. Here's my card:

I started by die cutting a stitched circle and then stamped the florals around the edge using a layering stamp set from Altenew. I also used two trios of Altenew ink colours - so easy as the colour tone matching all done for me.

I finished the card off with a sentiment from Uniko stamped onto a fishtail banner.

Uniko Challenge #52 Reminder

I'm here today with a little reminder about the challenge currently going on over at Uniko.

I created a simple and quick CAS card for Easter, but  as it uses non-Easter images it could just as easily become a birthday card with a different sentiment.

I used the pinstripe background block stamped twice in green to represent grass and flower stems and then die cut the top of this panel and adhered it to the bottom of a plain white card. Next I stamped and used the matching dies to create three flowers. These were applied flat to the card and a gem stone adhered to each middle.

I then finished off my card with a simple Easter greeting.

Today I'm sharing a card I made for the current challenge at Inkspirational.

Here's my card:

I used the MFT Mini Cloud Edges stencil and distress ink to form my clouds and then stamped the quote straight on top. So easy!

Wednesday Words

Today I'm back at on of my favourite places to join in with challenges - STAMPlorations. It's the CUTplorations Challenge and they have a lovely inspiration picture to use.

One of the requirements for this challenge is that a STAMPlorations product should be used and my card has both stamps and a die cut from their store.

I picked up on the polka dots from the picture and started my card by stamping a polka dot background. I then decided to highlight this a bit more by framing it with a circular die cut. Next I stamped, coloured - chosen as they reminded me of the red velvet cake in the picture - and fussy cut the flower blooms and placed them overlapping the circular window. I keep going back to this particular stamp set as I love the simplified flowers so much.

I finished off the card with a die cut sentiment and a trio of small black gems.

Tuesday Talk

Today I'm sharing a cute little card I created for the challenge at Love To Scrap. The theme is Anything Goes and whatever you make has to include stamping.

And what's better than a brand new stamp just itching to get coloured up!

This little lady is from Whimsy Stamps and the paper is MFT.  Both jumped into my basket at the Copic colouring class I went to over the weekend - yes almost as good as the class was the Dies To Die For pop up shop, spent way too much as always!

I chose a paper first and took a tip from Ksenija, one of my teammies at AAA Cards, and used the patterned paper as the inspiration for my colouring pen choices. I tried out some of the pen flicks we had been practising on her hair and added loads of sparkle with Wink of Stella to her wings.

I finished off the card with a sentiment from Uniko.

Sunday Slot

I'm playing with the colours from CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge today.

I was really inspired by DT Karen's beautiful card and decided to CAS(E) it.

I stamped the word quote twice to fit all the way along the right hand side edge. Then I stamped the leaves straight on top.

The whole thing was matted onto a white card base.

Saturday Slot

Today I'm playing along with the challenge at Less is More. Their theme is three of something.

Now Less  is More are very keen on CAS cards and empty 'white' space - definitely my sort of thing then!

I'd been itching to use the new to me bunnies stamp set from MFT, so I was delighted to discover one of the stamps was three eggs. Decision made easy! And plenty of empty white space too!

I did go on and make another card and added three little clear gems, but I think I like the simpler version best and that's the one I'm putting into the challenge. What do you think?

Friday Focus

Well if yesterday's mixed media was a challenge then today's CAS Mix Up challenge should have been a breeze! But no! I found this even more difficult and that's my excuse for arriving at this party so late!

   

So I've watched the videos and given it a go, but boy did I get into a sticky mess and I'm not 100% pleased with the result. Sometimes you just have to try new things!

I love the colours, that it looks so CAS and that the photograph doesn't show the glue smudges - at last a bonus to being a rubbish photographer!

I die cut the corner scroll several times, added colour using my Copic pens by glueing the bottom layer in place and colouring onto the card base through it. I then stuck the extra layers on and added glossy accents to the coloured parts.

Thursday Thoughts

Mmmm! It's a mixed media challenge for me today - and this is a challenge for me when I'm creating cards!

I think it was the 'must use a stencil' that got me hooked and wanting to give it a go. So thanks ARTplorations for inspiring me to try. But somehow my card still turned out to be CAS!

 I started by inking up a strip at the bottom and then used the ghosting technique with a stencil and baby wipe. I then turned the stencil and went back over it with the same colours of ink. on top of this I stamped the daisy row.

I then drew a pen line along the top edge of the inking and added a die cut sentiment strip. the dot on the 'i' was just too fiddly to glue on so I used a black gem instead.

I'm thinking this qualifies as mixed media as I used inking, a stencil, stamping, a hand drawn line, a die cut and a gemstone.

Wednesday Words

Today I'm sharing a CAS card I made for the STAMPlorations CAS Challenge.

It's an Easter card and I included the optional twist of coral pink.

I love this sweet little image of a flower pot decorated for Easter. I always intend to get one of those tree branches to hang decorated eggs on - maybe this will be the year I actually get round to it.

Once I'd die cut the window I stamped the image on the cut out piece and then trimmed it down a bit so that it allowed some of the coral pink background paper to show through.

Tuesday Talk

If you follow my blog you'll know I love creating atcs because of their small scale. Well today my share is also on a small scale but it's a gift tag. It's going into the TAGplorations challenge at STAMPlorations.

I loved the challenge image and used it to inspire my tag:

I die cut the tag once in the pink polka dot and once in white card. Then I stamped the flowers in wisteria wonder, coloured them and cut round the tops. This was placed onto the polka dot tag so that I could position and stamp the bird and greeting.

I re-stamped the bird's body onto a card scrap, coloured it and hand cut it before popping it up onto foam pads and adhering to the tag. I did the same thing with the small butterfly. The tag was finished off with a pink sequin and a shiny blue ribbon.
