Sunday Slot

Running a bit late today so going to have to be quick.  Two cards today using the same layout from Freshly Made Sketches, but in different colour combos.

My first card is a traditional Christmas colour scheme and I had great fun stamping all over the background.  I love how these Uniko Studio stamps resemble a fair isle jumper pattern.

I got to wondering whether this idea would work with other background stamps and used the colours from Colour Q to try it out.  I love this colour combo and quite like the look of the card too.

Supplies:
Card 1:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Jolly Christmas, All Occasion Sentiments #4, Background Builders Christmas
Inks: Memento, rhubarb stalk, cottage ivy, bamboo leaves
Embellishments: sequins from my stash

Card 2: Stamps, Flower Power #2, all Occasion Sentiments #2, Background Builders - Christmas, Flower Power & Chevrons
Inks: Memento, cantaloupe, tangelo, summer sky, rich cocoa

Thanks for dropping by today.

Saturday Scribbles

Finally today I'm getting round to entering the Uniko Studio challenge, not like me to be so late. Well I actually made a card ages ago, but then realised I hadn't read the brief carefully enough. I'd spotted an Autumn theme and went ahead and made my card, then saw that there was a colour palette too. So now days and days later I've had another go. Have to say I actually prefer the more muted colour scheme.  What do you think?

Here is my original card:

And this is the revised version, couldn't resist adding a button:

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Nature's Treasures 1, All Occasion Sentiments #2
Inks:
Card 1: Memento, potter's clay, peanut brittle, cantaloupe, rhubarb stalk, dandelion, lady bug, tangelo, rich cocoa
Card 2: Memento, cantaloupe, pistachio, paris dusk, toffee crunch, peanut brittle, sweet plum

Thanks for dropping by. Have a great weekend.

Thursday Thoughts

Two cards for the Less is More challenge today.  Their theme is dark background with a splash of colour(s). Well selecting the black card was the easy bit! It took a few attempts before I came up with a way to make the colours show up on the black. I sort of knew how I wanted the card to look, but stamping wasn't doing it for me. So I searched out some vibrant papers and used dies and punches to layer up and made the first card.

I thought I was done but then I got to thinking about the rules at Less is More and began to wonder if three layers plus a button would be too much. So I pondered some more and then spotted my box of washi tape and that's how the second card was born.

Supplies:
Hearts: Nesting die (can't remember make), Martha Stewart punch & hand cut
Paper, washi tape, gems & button from my stash

Thanks for dropping by today.

Wednesday Words

Back down to earth today with supermarket shopping with my dad on the agenda, not going to be a patch (pun) on my shopping trip yesterday.  More about that at the end of this post.

I had great fun last night making the card I'm sharing today, got a bit messy too - not usually keen on that.  I used the layout from CAS(E) this sketch as a starting point.

I read about the technique I used for the background of my card here and then followed the link to Jennifer McGuire's blog where there's a great video about how to do it.  Also picked up a couple of other tips in this video too, she's just so talented!

So out came my favourite colours and the new Uniko Studio Stunning Snowflakes stamps set.  I do love all the snowflakes in this set, but the one I used on this card has to be my favourite - I know this because it's the one I keep putting on the block!  I added three hand cut snowflakes - didn't buy the die, silly me - just to give a little more dimension.

Supplies:
Stamps: Unilo Studio, Stunning Snowflakes
Inks: Versamark; Ranger distress ink, chipped sapphire, dusty concord, stormy sky
Embossing: opaque white powder
Mica powder, violet
Washi tape

So this is just one corner of where I went yesterday - Stitchcraft Studio, Grantham. The selection of fabrics is just so overwhelmingly gorgeous and everyone there so friendly and helpful.

And here are my selected bales:

And this is what they looked like after the lengths were cut:

Obviously a Christmas themed project in mind, watch this space!  And yes I have completed my last patchwork project.  So this:

Has now turned into this:

Thanks for dropping by today.

Monday Moments

Welcome to a new week! And thanks for stopping by.

Today's card has turned out to be a personal favourite - no wonder when it's a LOTV image!  This week over at CAS - Colours & Sketches it's a double challenge with both a sketch and colour palette. I've kept everything simple with just a bit of stitching for embellishment - Yay! brownie points for using stitching (my goal for this year). Don't you just love the boy's hair?  I'd never have thought of those colours without this challenge, so good to be pushed a bit. So here he is, hope you like him:

Supplies:
Stamps: LOTV, Set 2 Boy Oh Boy
Promarker: marsh green, ginger, spice, terracotta
Flexmarkers: cloud blue, cobalt blue, linen, blush, dusky pink
Paper: scrap of ep

Thanks for looking!
