Friday Focus

Feels like it's been ages and ages since I've shared a scrapbook page. And probably even longer since I've entered a scrapbook challenge.

Time to put that right!

So White with 1 here I come.

And how amazing it has been to actually see and touch and watch my grandchildren again!

I pretty much followed the sketch exactly, just had to flip it because of the direction of the photo and substituted stars for the circles.

Supplies:
Papers: AC, kraft card + scraps from my stash
Dies: MFT Die-namics, Cute Cameras, Lucky Stars & Wow; Lawn Fawn, hearts

Thanks so much for stopping by today. It's been fun to have you visit.

Stay safe and keep crafting!

Wednesday Words

Another scrapbook page today, but not snow related this time! I've used the sketch and colours from the February White With 1 Challenge.

I decided to use one photo instead of the two indicated in the sketch, but apart from that pretty much stuck to everything else.

I started by punching the scallop border across the top of the page and then added a main background piece from the same papers.  I used two strips of washi tape from funky fossil for the stripes and covered the join with a row of puffy fabric hearts.

The lacey heart is a Polkadoodles die and I added faux stitching using a black glaze pen. A splatter of pink ink and some matching enamel dots finished it all off.

Supplies:
Paper: Amy Tangerine, Oh Happy life
Punch: ek , scallop border
Die: Polkadoodles, Heart Flourish
Alphas: Pinkfresh Studio, Just A Little Lovely
Washi: Funky Fossil, wide stripes
Embellishments: Pinkfresh Studio, Everyday Musings Ephemera; MME Necessities red dots; Sakura, black glaze pen
Ink: SU, flirty flamingo

Huge thanks for your time today, it was gret to have you stop by.

Tuesday Talk

Noe that the snow has all gone it's time to get some scrapbook pages completed and shared. Today's page is when one of my grandsons paid a flying visit between home school lessons to make use of the snow in my back garden.

Normally we would have been out there with him, but of course with Covid lockdown and social distance restrictions we just had to watch from the window. But then as it was so cold maybe that wasn't such a hardship after all!

The eyes, mouth and buttons were carefully selected from stones at the side of the house and a carrot was left on the doorstep for him to collect. His dad broke off some twigs for the arms - and helped him quite a bit with the rolling!

Thanks so much for looking today, I really appreciate you taking the time.

Wednesday Words

Today I'm sharing a scrapbook page using the layout from Let's Get Sketchy.

Here it is:

I started by placing the centre strip and photos. Then I stamped the cupcakes, clocks and splatters in three colours to tone in with the photos. This birthday was all about the cakes, the watch and lockdown!

I added a journal card and stamped a background strip, another clock and the title straight on to it. I then added the 70 yrs. Yes it was supposed to be a family party but ended up being a Portal TV party instead. There's another half page with the journalling and a photo of the TV which will sit beside this page in my album.

Supplies:
Papers: Simple Stories, Say Cheese, Sunshine & Happiness
Stamps: Funky Fossil, Cupcake Crazy; Heffy Doodle, Big & Bold Words; SU, Gorgeous Grunge; Prima, Clocks
Inks: SU, pumpkin pie, crushed curry, baked brown sugar
Alphas: Dear Lizzy Thickers, Woodland; MAMBI alpha stickers

Thanks so much for looking today, I really love that you stopped by my blog.

White With 1 - December Challenge

It's already December in Australia so of course the new White With 1 challenge has started.

Well that colour screamed Christmas to me, so I went routing through last years' photos to see if there were any that I'd missed.

I've been hoarding this reindeer paper for far too long and I'm pleased to have put it to good use on this page.

I also raided my stash for all the embellishments and had fun stacking them up in the three places indicted on the sketch.

Supplies:
Papers: Echo Park, Celebrate Christmas; scraps from my stash
Punch: ek, scalloped edger
Embellishments: gifted from Helen my Australian penpal
Stickers: Simple Stories, Misteltoe kisses & Handmade Holidays
Alphas: Simple Stories, Legacy

I'm sad to say that this will be my last gig with White With 1. I've really been struggling with creating scrapbook pages as every time I sit down to put one together I get a bit emotional and realise how much I'm missing this year due to Covid. Then I don't want to scrap any more and put it all away. So I made the decision to step down, but who knows maybe 2021 will be a better year and I'll start scrapping again and play along with their challenges. I really hope so, but I'm fearful that there is still a very long way to go.

Thanks so much for dropping by today, it's been very much appreciated.

Stay safe and try to keep crafting!

White with 1 - November Challenge

In Australia it's already the 1st November and time for the new challenge at White With 1.

Check out those colours! And just look at the textures on the mood board! Well here's my attempt at
re-creating them onto a scrapbook page.

I started by adding a stencilled background pattern picking up on the coffee cup pattern from the photo. I then layered up my photo using a hessian paper as the grounding strip.

A date and time that will stay in the memories of 2020 as the start of a very strange and uncomfortable few months.

Supplies:
Papers: scraps from my stash
Inks: Memento, peanut brittle, potters clay
Punch: ek, notebook border
Embellishments: Simple Stories, Sweater Weather, Legacy, So Rad & Say cheese; Vicki Boutin sticker book; Cocoa vanilla, Boys Rule

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I always enjoy having your company for a while.

White with 1 - October Challenge

Time for a new scrapbooking challenge at White with 1. This month it's a bright green that is the +1.

I used this adorable photo of my granddaughter tucking in to some broccoli. I'm not sure which is the cutest her hair matching the shape or the fact that she actually likes broccoli!

And this moment had to be captured as no doubt this healthy choice of eating will not last and the very idea of eating something green will become a horror.

As you can see I rotated the sketch as my photo was portrait. I then built up the embellishments to the right side and popped in the tags at the top.

Supplies:
Papers: Echo Park, Times & Seasons; Craft Creaions Ltd, Gingham; SU; scraps from my stash
Embellishments: Elle's Studio, puffy hearts; Pink Fresh Studio, Everyday Musings; Maggie Holmes sticker book; Kaisercraft, Fleur; Sparklets enamel dots

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I really love having a bit of company.

Thursday Thoughts

It's been a while since I've felt like scrapbooking but when my grandson said this:

"we need another carriage so the people can social distance at one metre."

I knew it had to be recorded for posterity. At no other time in history have those words been in a five year old's play vocabulary!

I used the sketch from Sketches in Thyme as my starting point.

Sketch #431 Created by Laura Whitaker
Here's my page:

Just about all of the supplies for this page are from Cocoa's Vanilla's Legendary pack. I just added in some plain blue card scraps, a Polkadoodles tag and some Hobbycraft alphas.

The other story I wanted to include on this page was the way even when you think you're too old for a toy and give it up to a younger cousin, there's still enormous pleasure from revisiting it at granny's house.

Supplies:
Papers, ephemera, enamel dots - Cocoa Vanilla, Legendary
Alphas: Hobbycraft, chipboard

It's been great to have you stop by my blog today, thanks so much.

Stay safe and keep crafting!

White With 1 Facebook Cyber Crop 3

The last of the three Cyber Crop Challenge at White With 1 starts today and of course I've joined in and played along!

Image may contain: stripes, text that says "Cyber Crop 19 to 21 JUNE"  Image may contain: 5 people

Today's challenge was set by DT Tracey:

I was inspired by the background of my photos, so the challenge for you is to be inspired by one colour from your photo background and use just that colour! (various shades and hues are allowed) But wait there is more the extra criteria are:
* at least 3 or more photos
* use an embellishment that doesn't really "go" with the theme of your layout (I used flowers on a beach themed layout)
* use a doily or mixed media (or both, like me)

Here's my take:

Initially I thought to go with the blues from the sky, but when I pulled out some papers the photos seemed to disappear into them. So I tried out some oranges picking up on the colour from the heather scrub in the main photo and this complementary colour worked so much better and made the pics really pop.

I've used 5 photos and my embellishments that don't really go with the theme are the fish, hermit crab and wax crayon. I added quite a bit of stamping, both words and splatters, as my extra mixed media element.

Supplies:
Papers: Lilybeedesigns, Cartwheels; Graphic 45, Fairie Dust; scraps from my stash
Stamps: Funky Fossil, Small Print, Distressed Elements; SU, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Memento, potters clay
Embellishments: Paperchase, puffy hearts; Shimelle, Box of Crayons; Bella Blvd, Secrets of the Sea; Simple Stories, sunshine & Happiness

I'm really grateful for your time today, thanks so much for visiting my blog.

Stay safe and keep crafting!
