Today I'm sharing a card I created for the CAS Mix Up Challenge.

A love a bit of paper piecing, so relaxing to stamps and cut and stick!

I went searching through my stamps to find a suitable one for paper piecing and decided to use this MFT stamp Puddle Jumper. So evocative of walks with each of my grandsons!

As it's quite a small stamp I chose small patterned papers and left over scraps from Lawn Fawn's Beachside.

Tuesday Talk

Today I'm joining in with the challenge at CAS Mix Up where they are celebrating their 5th birthday.

I've never tried this technique before but decided to give it a go.

I used the Cogs and Gears die from Funky fossil and cut it out using foam. I then attached it with removeable glue to an acrylic block and painted two premixed brusho colours onto it. As it was all a bit wet and watery at this point I put the card on top of the foam die cuts rather than lifting the acrylic block and taking it to the card.

Once the main die cut was stamped I then added a couple of extra cogs and the the chain stamped repeatedly along each side. I added a birthday greeting - had to be since it's CAS Mix Up's birthday - using the new Graphic Words set also from Funky Fossil.

Today I'm sharing a card I created for the challenge at CAS Mix Up's Stencil Challenge.

Here's my card:

I have a bit of a soft spot for stag images and use them a lot when making masculine cards, so for this tone on tone card I chose the awesome Steampunk Reindeer. I used buff card stock from Papermill Direct and inked the stag up with two tones of brown ink.

I added one of the Small Print greetings and matted it onto a matching card base to finish it all off.

Wednesday Words

It's time for a spot of water colouring at CAS Mix Up this month and there's also the theme of Beach.

Here's what I came up with:

I started by creating my water coloured background using an acrylic block and two distress ink colours. When that was dry I stamped and heat embossed the three shells from Funky Fossil's Starfish Wishes. I then added more watercolour to the shells using Inktense pencils and a water brush.

The greeting - listen to the sea - is also from Starfish Wishes. What do you think of the font with the upside down 't'? I'm getting used to it now, but at first it really made me wonder if I'd stamped it the wrong way up.

Monday Moment

Today I'm playing along with the CAS Mix Up Challenge for June.

I'm trying to conquer my fear of vellum and used dry and heat embossing on this card:

I started by preparing an alcohol ink background on a sheet of vellum. Once dry I ran it through a Cuttlebug embossing folder and die cut it.

Next I stamped and heat embossed the awesome Visible Image Dragonfly, coloured it up with Copic pens and hand cut it. I popped it up onto foam pads and adhered it on top of the background panel. I added a sentiment from another VI stamp set.

Wednesday Words

Today I'm sharing a card I created to play along with the challenge at CAS Mix UP.

Now this was a technique I'd never heard of before and I was a little bit reluctant to give it a try. But I watched Loll's video - Paper Towel Backgrounds - and she explained it so clearly and made it look so simple I was persuaded to have a go.

And it was fun and I did like the result! Of course I didn't have a paper towel handy so I got to it and made some backgrounds for future use using my favourite Brusho colour powder, ultramarine and mopped the ink up with a paper towel.

So having created my paper towel background I then needed to think about how to present it in a CAS way.  As the edges were a bit scrappy and curled up I decided to pop it behind an aperture. I stamoed the silhouette onto the paper towel print and on to the aperture card - before cutting - so that it sort of extended out.

Saturday Spot

I'm sharing a card today that I made for the CAS Mix Up Ombre Challenge.

 

I used the delightful new Pug & Hugs stamps set from Funky Fossil Designs:

I created my ombre panel with a Funky Fossil stencil and distress ink after masking off the left side of the card front. I then stamped the pug dog straight on top and added a little shaded detail with Copic pens.

This dog has such a soulful face and suits the matching sorry sentiment from the stamp set perfectly.
