The Male Room - Facebook Lockdown Event 8

Today I'm joining in with The Male Room's facebook group Lockdown Event 8.

Lockdown Event 7 was to rescue up to ten items of left over crafting bits and Event 8 is to get on and put those bits to use.

Here's my rescue collection:

I decided to keep to a colour scheme as I had no idea in my head about how I was going to put these bits to use. As I gathered them I did start to think along the lines of a baby card with an elephant because of the blues and greys.

Well here's that card then.......

....not! These photos sent from my Isle of Man family completely changed my mind!

I added in the background paper and some word stamps as well as my photos - all allowed within this challenge. And I managed to use all the rescued items, even the negative pieces from the die cuts.

I'm loving how the holographic card is picking up on the colours as the light hits it.

Extra supplies:
Stamps: Funky Fossil, Small Print (available 27th June)
Ink: Memento, London fog
Paper: from my stash

Have you got lots of left over bits that need rescuing? Well why not pop over to The Male Room's facebook group and play along? It can be any kind of paper project that is suitable or about a male.

Thanks so much for dropping by today, I really appreciate you taking the time.

Stay safe and keep crafting!

The Male Room - Lockdown Event 2

Today I'm sharing a scrapbook page I created as part of The Male Room's Challenge in their facebook group.

The first event was to collect these items together and share a photo:

1. a piece of red or blue or green card
2. a piece of patterned paper
3. a circle die or die cut
4. a purple ink pad or pen or colouring pencil
5. an animal stamp or animal image or a printed animal digi
6. washi or ribbon or twine
7. 3 buttons or 3 enamel dots
8. something old from your stash that really needs to be used
9. a sentiment stamp or peel off or word sticker
10. an item that is suitable to be re-cycled onto a project

Event 2 is all about using the stash collected for a card, scrapbook page, art journal page, tag, 3D item or any other paper craft project as long as it's masculine. And it's ok to add extra items in. Here's my take:

The outfit was bought online and delivered to my grandson as a reward for all his hard work home schooling. And I think it was a success!

The pic above and the one below show some to the items from my stash search collection. I managed to include them all, but admit I had this page in my head when I collected them all together.

Supplies:
Papers: Creative Imaginations Halloween; Paper Mill Direct, Halloween
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Whoo To You
Ink: Ranger distress, wilted viloet
Embellishments: YNS Gumdrops, black dots; Creative Imagination, stickers. Washi from my stash

It's been so much fun having you visit my blog today, thanks for your time. And how about joining in with this event? Find it all HERE.

Keep safe, stay home and craft instead!

Guest Designer - The Male Room

Today I'm delighted to be Guest Designing with The Male Room.  The theme is Anything Apart From A Card - no surprises about what I decided to create then!

Yes, you guessed - a scrapbook page.

So the instructions on the new sofa said it would need plumping up after being squashed flat for delivery. Mmm, someone had their own idea about how to do that!

I stamped and splattered paint in a diagonal and used arrows and stickers to draw the eye down the page.

Supplies:
Paper: Bella Blvd, Secrets of the Sea
Stickers: Doodlebug, Dragon Tails
Stamp: precious Remembrance Shop, Positive thoughts
Ink: SU, smoky grey; Mr Huey's Color Mist, opaque white
Alphas: AC tickers, Wild
Die: MFT Dienamics, double stitched circle
Punch: Woodware, 1.5"
Embellishments: enamel dots from my stash

I'm wondering how you'll interpret this theme and hoping to get loads of ideas for future projects. You really need to go and check out the TMR DT creations, they have so much imagination and I was really impressed.

Huge thanks for dropping by today, your visit was greatly appreciated.

And keep crafting!

The Male Room - #63 Fireworks

Today is to be my last gig as a DT member at The Male Room. And what a fitting challenge theme - always good to go out with a bang!

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2017/06/challenge-63-theme.html

Well I don't have any firework stamps so I had to be a bit inventive. The gorgeous grunge I'm sure you'll all recognise, but the starburst is actually one of the layers that make up the poinsettia from the Uniko Jingle Bells stamp set. I'm always saying how versatile Uniko stamps are and I think this just proves a point!

Once I'd done all the stamping in the riot of colours that you get iwht fireworks exploding I die cut a double stitched rectangle to one side and then inlaid it back into the base card.

Supplies:
Stamps: SU, Gorgeous Grunge; Uniko, All Occasion Sentiments #6, Simply Said II, Jingle Bells
Inks: Kaleidacolor, Berry Blaze & Riviera; Versafine, onyx black
Die: MFT Die-namics, double stitched rectangles

Now make sure you go visit the rest of The Male Room DT for more inspiration - HERE. Well this will be the last time I say that last sentence so all I need to do now is say thanks to everyone at The Male Room for having me and to Deborah in particular who works tirelessly behind the scenes.  It's been fun and I've learnt loads.

Great to have you visit today, huge thanks winging your way.  And keep crafting!

The Male Room - #62 Off The Edge

A super theme for the new challenge at The Male Room - Off The Edge. Wow, that's something to think about!

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2017/06/challenge-62-technique.html

I immediately thought about stamping right on the edge of a card with some of the stamp not showing - sort of half a stamp. I've done that before and think it looks really cool, but then as i was looking through my stash I came across this bicycle stamp. Ping! The lightbulb moment happened.

I used a strip of washi to suggest a road or path for the bicycle to go along and added an arrow to point the way. Loving that sentiment, who knows what might happen next!

Supplies:
Stamps: Reverse Confetti, Boho Vibes; Clearly Besotted, Good Times
Ink: Versafine, onyx black
Washi from my stash

OK, that's me all done and now it's your turn to go off the edge. Adventure awaits you - HERE - where the rest of TMR DT have inspirational creations to help you on your way.

Thanks for looking today, I really love that you visited my blog.  And keep crafting!

The Male Room - #61 Die Cuts

A really fabulous theme for the new challenge at The Male Room - Die Cuts. And who doesn't have a few of these tucked away in their stash?

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2017/05/challenge-61-stash.html

I wanted to make use of a Spellbinders set of dies I've had for ever and don't get out often enough, so on went the thinking cap and this is what I came up with:

I prepared a watercoloured card in some beautiful blues and left it to dry. While waiting I cracked on and prepared the die cut amazing by die cutting it once in black and several more times in white to make it really pop form the card. I also stamped and die cut the little stitched circle which got popped up on a foam pad.

Supplies:
Dies: Spellbinders, Sprightly Sprockets; CURplorations, amazing; MFT Die-namics, inside/out circles
Stamp: Stamplorations, bold sentiments
Inks: Ranger distress, meramid lagoon, peacock feathers, cracked pistachio, blueprint sketch; Versafine, onyx black

Well that's me done for today! I just need to remind you to go feast your eyes on what the rest of The Male Room's DT have created using dies - HERE - and then I'll bid you good-bye.

Thanks for visiting and keep crafting!

The Male Room - #60 Stars

I'm here today to share my DT card made for The Male Room's new challenge. The theme is STARS.

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2017/05/challenge-60-theme.html

And stars mean sparkle, right? So I started by stamping some stars and heat embossing with sparkly powder.

Then I added some outline stars to fill out the gaps and finally more sparkle with some scattered gems.

The sentiment was also heat embossed with sparkle powder. The pic below shows the sparkle a little better than the rest of the photos.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Superstar
Inks: Versafine, onyx black; Versamark, clear
Embossing: Crafty Impressions, black rainbow sparkle
Embellishments: Bling Bling gems

Bet you've got a few shining stars in your families too, so what are you waiting for get those star stamps, die cuts or stencils out and get crafting! More star inspiration can be found at The Male Room - here.

Enormous thanks for visiting today, you're all shining stars in my eyes.  And keep crafting!

The Male Room #59 - Many Legs

There's a really fun challenge theme starting today over at The Male Room - Many Legs.

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2017/04/challenge-59-theme.html

My first thoughts were insects, but not having any suitable stamps I opted for several two-legged animals instead.

I stamped them using Indigo Blu's flitter glue and then covered them in gliding flakes. A new technique for me and one that I like the results produced much more than the total mess iIgot into when trying it out!

I added a fun sentiment from the same Stamplorations stamp set on a flag shaped banner for interest.

Supplies:
Stamps: Stamplorations, Fowl Play
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black; Indigo Blu gilding flakes, chocolate box
Die: Lil'inker, stitched mats rectangles

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you all come up with for this challenge. Go take a peek at TMR DT cards - here - and then get stamping those legs!

Huge thanks for dropping by today, loved having you visit. And keep crafting!

The Male Room #58 - Architecture

Go check out the new challenge at The Male Room - here. Such a fabulous theme and loads of ways to interpret it creatively.

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2017/04/challenge-58-theme.html

And I had so much fun getting all inky with some glorious colours!

I made the watercoloured background first, flicking the brusho colours onto wet watercolour paper. Love the vibrancy and sheer oomph of brushos, but I am very messy and get as much colour on me as the card!

Once the brushos were all dry I stamped on top with some very neglected but totallly cool Lavinia stamps. Message to myself - get using those stamps hiding in my stash more often!

Supplies:
Stamps: Lavinia, Secret Garden & Oak Tree; Sentiment from Uniko, Home Sweet Home
Inks: Brusho, ultramarine, yellow, turquoise; Versafine, onyx black; Adirondack, purple twilight; Ranger distress, black soot

Now it's your turn to get creative with architecture. What will you come up with? Can't wait to see. Go check out the rest of The Male Room's DT projects - here - you'll be blown away!

I'm so pleased you had time to come calling today, huge thanks. And keep crafting!

The Male Room #57 - Black White + One

A really fun theme at The Male Room for the next fortnight and one of my favourite colour combinations too!

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2017/03/challenge-57-colours.html

So I went with turquoise as my additional colour and made a a modern and funky card ready for my oldest grandson's first teenage birthday coming up soon.

I stamped the halftone starburst in black first and then simply overstamped it in turquoise after moving it slightly to the right. The WOW was stamped and hand cut and raised on pads to create a little shadow effect.

And he is awesome of course at the moment, but we're all waiting to see if he turns into an overnight teenage nightmare like Harry Enfield's Kevin. Fun times!

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Explosion Additions
 ExplosionAdditionsPP
Inks: SU, tempting turquoise; Memento, tuxedo black
Die: Lawn Fawn, large stitched square stackables

I'm wondering which colour you'll be adding into the black and white mix - with so many possibilities The Male Room gallery is sure to look quite spectacular once you all get linking up.

Huge thanks for dropping by my blog today, your time is really appreciated.  And keep crafting!

The Male Room #56 Use Wood

The Male Room has a new challenge starting today and we'd like to see some wood on your project.

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2017/03/challenge-56-stash.html

I knew I had some left over bits of paper with wood designs on, so I searched them out and that's where I began.

The pieces weren't large enough to have the grain in the wood facing the same way, but I'm quite liking the way the two different directions look and consider this a happy unintentional outcome.

I've been hanging on to this wooden 'hugs' wood cut for some time and decided now was a good time to get it out there and onto a card. I simply added a stamped sentiment that matched and a trio of wooden hearts and called it done.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Simply Said II
Inks: SU, early espresso
Papers: Kaisercraft, Sea Breezes; Simple Stories, Bloom & Grow
Embellishments: Lawn Fawn, scripty hugs wood veneer; Becky higgins, PL wood veneer hearts

How will you interpret The Male Room's wood theme? Going to be lots of fun watching your creations pop up in the gallery. Need a bit more of a kick start? Well off you go then to check out the rest of tMR DT ideas - here.

I'm really pleased to have had you drop by today, thanks so much.  And keep crafting!
