Uniko February Release - Introducing Spring Botanicals Daffodil

Today's Uniko introduction to the February new release is just one mega stamp set and a real beauty that thoroughly deserves to have the day to itself!

I expect you've already guessed the image from the sneak peek and yes you're correct it is a daffodil. A beautiful addition to the Spring Botanicals range. I'm kicking off with my favourite purples - a bit of a unusual colour choice for a daffodil I can hear you thinking.  Well you're probably right, but I think it works.

A really simple composition using a bit of masking on the stalk of the daffodil and some careful placement of the stamp to prevent them from overlapping.

The sentiment is also from this set and is one of my favourite positive thinking quotes.

Next I've an easel card to share. It's been a long time since I've made an easel card, but it just seemed the daffodil was begging for a more unusual presentation. 

This was not the easiest of styles to photograph, but I think you can get the idea. I started by creating a little background of a blue sky and rolling hills and then stamped and hand cut the daffodil. It is such a beautiful daffodil too, don't you think?

 
The floor of the easel used up an odd piece of left over brusho stencilling and the catch for the easel to rest on is another uplifting sentiment from this stamp set.

And my final share for today is a strightforward watercoloured card.

I stamped and heat embossed the daffodil using clear  embossing powder and then coloured it using Brusho powders mixed with a little water.  I then finished off by flicking a little of the yellow brusho to achieve the speckled effect near the grass.

The greeting is from the same stamp set - there's quite a few really lovely and very useful greetings included with the daffodil image set. I left the bottom edge straight but hand cut round the rest of the greeting - reminds me of when I was a teacher and used to do this to help children see the shape of words when they were learning to read.

Uniko February Release - Introducing Birthday Sentiments, Background Blocks: Party Confetti & Balloon Bash Stencil

Yay! Today sees the beginning of the introductions to Uniko's new February release. And your chance to get more of a feel for the stamps and stencils by hopping round the DT blogs - links here -  and seeing how they've used them.

   

My first card uses both of the stamp sets in today's introduction and - a first for me - a video clip of how I created it. I shall be interested to see if that works!!

It's a bright happy card and I'm loving all the little details on the confetti stamp.

So with a bit of turning and the use of the misti tool I stamped the block in three different colours. Then I added a horizontal strip with HAPPY stamped on it and stamped and handcut round the shape of the 'birthday' sentiment on white card.

I was inspired by Crystal's card and think this new Uniko Background Block is perfect for this technique.

My second sample also uses these two stamp sets and is a cute little tag.

I've tried to get away from my usual colours and given grey and mustard a whirl. And I'm thinking this tag would go really well with a gift that contains a way to fulfil that greeting!

Thursday Thoughts

Today I'm sharing a card I made for another of the Winnie and Walter February challenges - the Grid Challenge with Keren.

Here's what I came up with:

I started by measuring and drwing a simple grid on a piece of card and then did a bit of repetitive stamping with Mini Scenery Round and Round. I covered the grid lines by using a very narrow washi tape.

As a contrast to all the black stamping I die cut the word 'home' several times using red card, glued them altogether and popped them over the centre.

Wednesday Words

I'm playing at Winnie & Walter again today and this time I'm joining in with Shay's Four Challenge.

Here's my card:

It's another Christmas card and using very similar colours to yesterday's card - maybe christmas 2018 is going to be an icy blue one! I cut the noel die from four different papers and then carefully snipped them to build up the four coloured single noel. 

I added a single Christmas tree, decided four would be overkill for my CAS style, but I did stamp four little stars from the same set.

Uniko February Release Sneak Peeks 2

Tuesday Talk

Today I'm sharing a card I made for the February STAMPlorations Challenge where the theme is Paint It Red.

My immediate thought was Valentine's Day, red hearts etc, but then I decided to go down the other red route - Christmas! Here's my card:

As there were some touches of blue in the challenge graphic as well as red I decided to go with that colour combo too and I really like the way the two colours contrast with eah other.
