AAA Cards Challenge #130 - Three of Something

AAA Cards final challenge for 2108 starts today and it's a great theme that can be used for Christmas or any other occasion.

I went with the Christmas theme and created a quick simple little card using Uniko goodies - our sponsor for this challenge.

I simply placed the stencil and masked it off to leave only three of the snowflakes. I then used distress oxide inks in a trio of colours and added a simple greeting below. I finished off by matting the whole thing onto a dark green base card.

MKC Digitals December Release

I'm back today with another showcase of one of the MKC Digitals new December release. This time I'm featuring Poinsettia Jar.

I printed the poinsettias and jar onto vellum as well as the base card and then added colour to the back of the vellum for a more subtle look.

Vellum and patterned paper from my stash

For my second card I printed the poinsettia onto three different patterned papers and then hand cut and paper pieced them. I used foam pads between the layers to give them a more 3D look.

The jar I simply coloured with my Copic pens.

Friday Focus

I'm back again today with the second page spread of my Christmas journey.

This tells the story of the purchase of the real tree and how it eventually got put into place. Once again the digi elements are from Studio Double D available from Designer Digitals.

I love that I was able to use one of the cards from a Pocket Letter sent to me last year by my Australian pen pal Helen. I plan to use most of the other cards throughout this year's pages and actually chose my colour scheme based on Helen's Pocket Letter colours.

I simply adhered the PL card - which incidentally is the same size as an atc card - onto a 4x6 piece of patterned paper. Takes the whole memory keeping idea to a new level don't you think?

Thursday Thoughts

This year I'm once again scrapping my Christmas journey and once again doing it as a December Non-Daily!

I'm going to journal and photograph as much as I can and share as much as I can get round to here on my blog, but with no pressure on myself to do either. I took this approach last year and found it a far more enjoyable process than forcing a daily record when, let's face it, some days there really is nothing much to tell. And other days there's loads to tell but no time to get it all recorded for a daily share.

Here's my first 2018 introductory element:

I used a combination of digi stamps along with a Katie Pertiet template - all purchased from Designer Digitals.

And to make things even more simple this year I'm using Project Life photo pockets inside my 2018 scrapbook album. Here's the first spread:

You'll notice my Christmas journey actually started before December and that's another reason for not calling it a December Daily.  The journal cards have been made using Studio Double D stamps from Designer Digitals and created using Photoshop Elements on my laptop.

MKC Digitals December Release

I'm so pleased you dropped by today as I'm showcasing one of the new stamps from MKC Digitals December release.  Unfortunately the shop site is currently down for essential maintenance, but in the meantime make your wishlist and check back soon.

The stamp is called Gnome Girl with Gingerbread Man and can be found in the MKC Digitals Shop - HERE.

For this card I mirrored the image to create a pair of gnome girls. When I was moving them around to place them next to each other I realised that the hats formed a heart when close together. I highlighted this by colouring it with a sparkly gel pen.

I added some polka dots to the gingerbread men's bow ties using a white gel pen and used gems for their buttons. I coloured the gnome girls in the traditional Christmas colours of red and green and die cut and then matted the whole panel onto a green holographic card base.

Gems from my stash

For my next card I used pinks and blues and coloured the gnome girl using Prismacolor pencils. I kept to a Christmas theme and added a coloured and dry embossed snowy background.

I cut the gnome girl by hand and popped her up onto pads before placing her on the snowy background. I then finished everything off with some small gems and some added sparkle using Stickles.

Although gingerbread men are a traditional treat at Christmas I think this stamp could be used all year round for birthdays by adapting the colours and background scene accordingly.

Wednesday Words

YAY! I'm super excited today as the January issue of Craft Stamper magazine is due to hit the shops this Friday 7th December and I've been lucky enough to have one of my cards selected for the Ready Set Stamp Gallery.

How totally awesome is that!!

Here's a picture of the magazine cover - loving the look of those cool blues and icy themes. It's going to be such an inspirational issue - but then it always is!

The theme for this challenge was HO HO HO and here's a little peek at my card (using Clearly Besotted stamps):

I can't wait to see it in print and photographed by a professional - such a fabulous honour!

Tuesday Talk

Today I'm sharing a card I made for the Calling All Sistahs challenge.

Here's my card:

I used a star stencil from Funky fossil and two pink oxide inks to create the magic coming from the fingertips of the ballerina.  I chose the sentiment as it is so encouraging about having the confidence to do what you believe is right for you.
