Tuesday Talk

Today I'm sharing a few cards that I made over the past few months to join in with the Card Chain Challenge.

http://picasion.com/

Every month there is an opportunity to sign up to exchange a card with someone from around the world and most months I join in. But I always seem to forget to share my cards on my blog, so I'm putting that right today.

Each month there is a trio of colours, a sketch, a theme and product or technique option. No need to use all four though, just one is all that is required.

Once you've signed up you wait until you get an email with all the pairings and then you post off your card.

And a little while later - depending on where your sender lives in the world - you receive some delightful happy mail.

It's such a fun way to connect with other crafters around the world and gives a real purpose to card making.

So what do you think? Fancy joining in? Well follow the link below my last card and get yourself signed up for the next exchange. You'll find my name and pic there.

Here's that link - The Card Chain Challenge.

Thanks so much for looking today.  And keep crafting!

AAA Birthday #5 - Use a Stencil

And hot on the heels of the new AAA Cards Challenge come a new birthday card challenge at AAA Birthday.

And I'm loving using stencils at the moment so this theme is right up my street!

As soon as I saw this Polkadoodles Magical Grasses stencil I knew it would be perfect for this challenge and it sort of made its own way into my shopping basket. But apart from this use of it I know it will be a go to for me as I just love the idea of magical grasses and that top right part is like the most useful stencil as well!

So this was a card that made itself in minutes and I had so much fun blending and mixing the distress oxide inks. I finished it off by simply matting it onto dark purple card, adding some glitter spots and a birthday sentiment from Uniko.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Simply Said Birthday
Inks: Ranger distress oxide, cracked pistachio, twited citron, peacock feathers, picked rapberry, wilted violet, salty ocean; Versfine Clair, nocturne
Embellishments: Liquid Pearls, white opal; Glamour Dust, crystal

AAA Cards - #148 Sketch + optional twist Animals

It's time for a new challenge at AAA Cards and this time there is a very CAS sketch for you to use as well as the optional twist of Animals if that appeals.

I've used one of the cute merfolk from Craftyscrappers new digital stamp sets for my card - does that count as an animal?

I separated the digi stamps in photoshop to achieve the look I wanted and then simply printed it out and coloured using Promarkers. I added a black line to outline the strip as the edges were a bit blurry and not as crisp as I wanted.

I used the colourless blender to get some texture onto the background strip and darker shades on the merboy to give the impression of scales and hair strands. I also glittered up the tail and arms with Wink of Stella.

Supplies:
Stamps: Craftyscrappers, Waving Hello digi
Pens: Copic, E0000, E00, YO2, Y13, Y18, R20, B02, B04, B14, BG32, BG34, colorless blender; Wink of Stella, clear
Embellishments: clear gems

So now it's over to you. How will you use the sketch and will the optional animal twist appear on your CAS card?  There's a chance to win two digital stamp sets from Craftyscrappers with this challenge so definitely worth a go!

Pop on over to the AAA Cards blog for much more DT inspiration and we also have the talented Laura from soulshinedesigns joining us as our Guest Designer.

Thanks for your time today, I really appreciate your visit.

And keep crafting!

Friday Focus

A scrapbook page to share today using an interesting theme from Scrap the Girls.

So everything squared then:

As I spend a ridiculous amount of time browsing on instagram this theme just had to be embraced! So all my papers and the photo were cut into squares with rounded corners and I tried to use the colours from the IG logo too.

The photo is from a college reunion back in July and seemed very appropriate for this theme. Lots of get my best side, wait a moment while I pull in my tummy type moments, but then it was done and here we are!

Supplies:
Papers:AC, kraft card stock; Prima Marketing, Bella Rouge
Dies: Lawn Fawn, large stitched circle stackables & hearts; Spellbinders, standard circles small
Punch: Xcut, corner rounder
Stickers: MAMBI, pocket pages; Paperchase, puffy hearts; Sparklets, enamel dots

Huge thanks for looking today, it's always much more fun when I have company.

And keep crafting!
