White with 1 - September Challenge

Another month and another challenge at White With 1.

And this month the added colour is a bit of a nod to Autumn - mandarin orange. Mmm not my favourite colour, unless it's combined with purple for Halloween, but it's good to step outside of my comfort zone occasionally.

Fortunately for me the photo that I wanted to use had loads of orange seats in the background. Can you feel the excitement on my grandson's face? It was his first ever attendance at a live football match. Just as well they got that fitted in before the lockdown!

A decided lack of orange papers in my stash led me to using the Funky Fossil stencil Watercolour Lines as my starting point. I then added in some stamped Autumn leaves and grungy shapes from Precious Remembrance Shop and Funky Fossil. And I did find a few paper scraps lurking and thought the polka dots echoed the oranges from the inspiration pic as well as being the shape of a football

I lucked out with finding a football sticker too and added it right under the title.

Supplies:
Stencil: Funky Fossil, watercolour lines
Stamps: Funky Fossil, Distressed Elements; Precious Remembrance Shop, Positive Thoughts, Fall Colors, Totally, Little Things
Ink: SU, tangerine tango
Die: MFT Die-namics, double stitched rectangles
Alphas: Hobbycraft
Stickers: CV, Boys Rule; Simple Stories, So Rad; EP, Teen Spirit; Jillibean Soup; Elle's Studio; Tim Holtz Small Talk

And now it's over to you. Looking forward to how you use the mandarin orange on your layouts.

Thanks for looking! Stay safe and keep crafting!

AAA Cards Challenge #173 - Sketch + optional twist At The Movies

Time for a new challenge at AAA Cards and it just squeezes its starting date into August. How can it be almost September already?

The sketch is an absolute beauty and the optional twist, chosen by Maaike, is a good one too. For me there was no question about which movie I would be picking - bet you can work it out so easily!

Well yes it Maleficent. I've just recently watched the second film and loved it just as much as the first. It's my all time favourite Disney and even tops Frozen in my opinion.

I searched on the internet for the image and ended up buying a digi from Etsy and then just created the whole card on my computer and printed it out. What could be simpler than that? And I always love how crisp the lines are on digital creations.

Supplies:
Stamps: digi from Digital Market Goods on Etsy

The rest of the AAA Cards team and our wonderful Guest Designer Ma-Mi have loads more inspiring ideas for you, check them all out HERE.

Thanks so much for looking today, it's been fab to have some company.

Saturday Spot

Today I've managed to combine two challenges for my card share - Inkspirational and CAS Colours & Sketches.

Here's my card:

I started by stamping the rainbow from Funky Fossil on the base card and then placed the die cut tag on top and stamped them again. I then added some raindrops to frame the tag.

The tag die I used actually has a straight edge at the bottom, but I thought a curved edge would echo the rainbow better so I used another die to shape it up.

Supplies:
Inks: Memento, tuxedo black, lady bug, tangelo, dandelion, bamboo leaves, danube blue, grape jelly, lulu lavender
Dies: MFT Die-namics, stitched basic edgers, stitched traditional tags

Huge thanks for stopping by today, i really appreciate you taking the time.

Polkadoodles Anything Goes Craft & Card Making Challenge

I'm beginning to feel a bit more at home now with my stint as Guest Designer for the Polkadoodles Anything Goes blog challenge. Well maybe still a little nervous as this is only the second time!

The DT were asked to create a shaped card and I went with a circle shape supported by rectangles on either side. It's very easy to construct with a partial cutting of the circle from a rectangle of card. Then a die cut circle is placed over to cover up any wonky cutting.

As back to school was on my mind I used the Student/School Little Dude and Cupcake on a Pile of Books digis . One of my sons had just been telling me about how he'd used a Zoom meeting to get my grandson's feet measured for new school shoes as he didn't want to take him to the shop in these strange times. Incredible what can be done on the internet these days!

I snipped off the cupcake as it didn't really fit with my theme. The yellow paper I used is from a Polkadoodles pad -  Butterfly Daisy and the chalkboard paper is included with the digi image.

Supplies:
Colours: Copic, R2O, R27, R29, R39, Y35, Y38, E00, E21, E31, E33, E37, E50, E70, B93, B95, B97, C0, C1, C3, C5, C7 ; Miya oil pencils

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Thanks so much for dropping by today. I'll hope you'll find time to join in with this week's Polkadoodles Challenge - HERE. Remember it's always Anything Goes and there are prizes to be won so you've got nothing to lose by playing along.

Thursday Thoughts

It's been a while since I've felt like scrapbooking but when my grandson said this:

"we need another carriage so the people can social distance at one metre."

I knew it had to be recorded for posterity. At no other time in history have those words been in a five year old's play vocabulary!

I used the sketch from Sketches in Thyme as my starting point.

Sketch #431 Created by Laura Whitaker
Here's my page:

Just about all of the supplies for this page are from Cocoa's Vanilla's Legendary pack. I just added in some plain blue card scraps, a Polkadoodles tag and some Hobbycraft alphas.

The other story I wanted to include on this page was the way even when you think you're too old for a toy and give it up to a younger cousin, there's still enormous pleasure from revisiting it at granny's house.

Supplies:
Papers, ephemera, enamel dots - Cocoa Vanilla, Legendary
Alphas: Hobbycraft, chipboard

It's been great to have you stop by my blog today, thanks so much.

Wednesday Words

Today I'm sharing a Christmas card I created for the Christmas Birds Challenge at Christmas Kickstart. Wow! I used the word Christmas three times in that sentence!

I was torn between going for cute or elegant. in the end the Uniko Peace On Earth white doves won out.

I started by stamping the doves onto a die cut rectangle from Polkadoodles and then added the sentiment from the same set between them. I matted the rectangle onto a beautiful Christmas paper from Funky Fossil's Let It Snow pad.

I finished off the card by using a white card base and adding a liberal coating of Wink of Stella to the doves.

Supplies:
Ink: Versafine Clair, nocturne
Die: Polkadoodles,  Posydoodles Rectangles

Supplies:
Inks: Ranger distress oxide, pine needles, candied apple; Versfine Clair, nocturne
Die: MFT Die-namics, double stitched rectangles

Sunday Slot

I've found a new to me challenge to play along with - {Pin}spirational - and they have the most adorable photo to use as inspiration.

And as I'll be needing a new baby card this Autumn I decided to join in with this card:

I picked up on the knitted blanket with the Funky Fossil Knitted Background stencil and used colours from the photo. Then I stamped the greeting from Uniko's Sweet Baby above.
Next I stamped some stripes onto scrap card and them over stamped them with the onesie suit, also from Uniko.

I die cut the stitched rectangle - probably my used die set ever - and stamped the abc along the bottom before adding the onesie suit popped up onto foam pads for added dimension.

Supplies:
Inks: SU, sahara sand, smoky slate; Versafine Clair, nocturne
Die: MFT Die-namics, double stitched rectangles

Thanks so much for you time today, I really appreciate you visiting my blog.

Saturday Spot

Today I'm sharing a card I created for August's The Flower Challenge.

And I've added a little sparkle, as requested, using some iridescent gems and heat embossing the stamping.

I used the smaller of the two flower stamps included in Funky Fossil's Beautiful Inside and Out stamp set. And quite naturally coloured them up using a mix of pink and blue Inktense water colour pencils to create my favourite purples.

I added the sparkly gems to the middle of the main flower and also to highlight my greeting. Although as it looks as if I've stamped it crooked maybe I shouldn't have done this!

Hers's a close up of the flower centre:

Supplies:
Inks: Versafine Clair + clear embossing ink
Colours: Derwent Inktense water colour pencils
Embellishments: Papermania iridescent gems

Thank you so much for spending some of your precious time looking at my blog today. I truly appreciate it.
