AAA Cards Game #167 - One Layer + optional twist Inspired by the Graphic

Time for a new challenge at AAA Cards and it's one of my favourite themes - One Layer.

And a fabulous optional twist too. love the inspiration pic!  In fact I love it so much I've made a couple of cards using stamps from our generous sponsor STAMPlorations.

Here's the first:

I  thought the patterns on the Artsy Doodled Borders were so like the the ones on the butterfly. So I just picked three colours from the photo and stamped up my card.

Supplies:
Stamps: STAMPlorations, Artsy Doodled Borders & Noteworthy
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black
Colours: Copic, YR15, Y13, R17

My second card is a much more literal interpretation of the graphic and uses stamps from a couple of STAMPlorations sets and a stencil from Funky Fossil.

I actually did all the stamping first and then inked through the stencil carefully to avoid the images - no masking required.

Supplies:
Stamps: STAMPlorations, Buttercups & Butterflies, Brave One
Stencil: Funky Fossil, Cellular
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black; SU pear pizzazz
Colours:YR15, R17, R22, G99, Y13; Miya oil pencils

The rest of the AAA Cards DT have also made fabulous CAS cards to inspire you and we have Joanna joining us as our Guest Designer for this challenge. Check them all out HERE.

AAA Birthday Challenge #14 - Use Vellum

Pinch and punch it's the first of the month! So time for a new challenge at AAA Birthday.

Ouch vellum! That had my brain whirring!

After much research around the internet I came up with two ideas that really appealed - dry embossing and heat embossing. I started with the Funky Fossil flower and heat embossed it in white and pooped it on top of a die cut purple circle.

I really like how the purple shows through the vellum in a muted way and that gave me the idea for the overlay of dry embossed vellum. Then I placed another die cut circle behind it and love the way the purple shows through in yet another tone.

The greeting was added on top of the overlay but tucked under the top purple circle. Both these elements allow for the vellum to be adhered to the base card without the glue showing through - always a tricky thing to adhere vellum.

Supplies:
Stamps: Funky Fossil, Funky Florals; Uniko Simply Said Birthday
Inks: Versamark + WOW! opaque bright white embossing powder; Versafine Clair, nocturne
Die: Lawn Fawn, large stitched circle stackables
Embossing: Crafts Too
Pearl from my stash

The AAA Birthday DT and Guest Designer Izzy Scrap have loads more wonderfully inspiring ideas for birthday cards showing many different ways to include vellum. Do go check them all out HERE.
