Saturday Scribbles

The last day of November and time to get my advent calendar ready.  I made a fabric calendar a couple of years ago when the grandchildren were staying for Christmas, then last year I refilled it with fun task cards as it was an all adult Christmas.  This year it's a bit of a combination of both, some tasks, some chocolate and the last four days containing children's challenges with a treat prize culminating in a mini treasure hunt on the 24th.  So yes, you've guessed the grandchildren are going to be here for a while over the Christmas period - YAY!!

My card for today is for the challenge at Casology where the theme is SHOP. Very appropriate! I combined this with the colours from Colour Q and added a bit of stitching to give texture to this very CAS card.

Supplies:
Stamp: Crafter's Companion, Winter Cheer
Ink: Memento, rich cocoa
Promarkers: pear green, burnt orange, azure, umber
Flexmarkers: blush, dusky pink
Paper: Basic Grey, Lemonade

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.

Friday Focus

Can't believe it's almost the end of November!  Time has nearly caught me out so today I've two very different cards to share and my scavenger hunt photos before the deadline arrives.

First up is my card for Less is More.  Their theme for this week's challenge is a Christmas card using a bird. This one had me stumped for a while as I don't have any robin stamps - cute or otherwise - and Christmas just has to be robins.  Then I thought does it? So out came my geese stamp and a red ribbon and the card was done. Nice, quick, clean and simple.

Supplies:
Stamp: Lavinia, geese; Uniko Studio, All Occasion Sentiments #4
Ink: Versafine, onyx black; Adirondack, red pepper, stonewashed
Embellishment: Ribbon from my stash

Friday Focus 2

My next card couldn't be more different - it's cute and layered, sparkly and embellished - although still much simpler than I used to make.  This card is for Sketch Saturday

I used a vintage LOTV stamp that has been residing at the bottom of my box for a couple of years - I used it for every card the year I bought it and that's why it's been a bit neglected ever since. She is such a very beautiful image so I wanted to keep the colours simple and understated, but I couldn't resist adding sparkle and the two little stars.

Supplies:
Stamp: LOTV, Christmas Angels Praying; sentiment, freebie
Ink: Memento, rich cocoa
Promarkers: crimson, marsh green, khaki, buttercup, vanilla, ivory
Flexmarkers: almond, putty, blush, dusky pink, tea rose
Die: X Cut
Embellishments: Stickles, Star Dust, Papermania adhesive gems

Last thing to share for today is my photo collage entry for A Trip Down Memory Lane's November scavenger hunt - link here

Thursday Thoughts

A card for CAS(E) this Sketch today.  The rectangular lattice on the sketch had me searching through my dies as I knew it reminded me of one of them.  So that was the starting point for my card.  Once the fence was cut I knew I wanted to put a stamp behind and went for my poppy field stamp from Inkylicious.

All my flower stamps and punches seemed too big and clumsy for the corner elements, so I chose butterflies instead and stamped some tiny ones around the poppies too. A little bit of twine to ground the image and a fairly open sentiment and I was done.

Supplies:
Stamp: Inkylicious, Poppy Lea; Clearly Besotted, sentiment from Take Good Care
Inks: Memento, rich cocoa, rose bud
Promarkers: Poppy
Punch: Martha Stewart
Die: Spellbinders d-lite
Embellishments: twine & Glassy Accents

Just want to share this photo before I go.  I took it on a walk late yesterday afternoon just as the sun was setting and there was a mist rising from the field.  We've been having some beautiful skies here in Lincolnshire recently.

Thanks for dropping by today.

Wednesday Words

Brilliant day out in Nottingham yesterday. Suffered a bit with aching legs last night - just not used to the hills.  Such a busy bustling city with so much to see - and that's before you get into the shops! Here's a collage of some of my favourite bits.

A favourite LOTV stamp used for today's card using the colours from CAS Colours & Sketches current challenge.  I've kept it simple and used my new pinpricking ruler for the first time. Think this might be my favourite Christmas card so far - just love the image coloured in this combo.

Supplies:
Stamp: LOTV; Clearly Besotted, sentiment from Modern Christmas
Promarkers: olive green, crimson, sandstone, umber, blush, dusky pink

Thanks for dropping by today.

Monday Moment

A bit late with my post today - got caught up with housework - HA!

So today's card is for two challenges. The layout from Freshly Made Sketches and the colours from Colour Q.  It's one of those cards that has left me feeling something is not quite right - I think it may be the stitching - but hey life's too short to worry too much! Wonder what you think? Love to hear.

Supplies:
Stamps: LOTV, Present Trio; Uniko Studio, sentiments from Flower Power #1, 2, & 3
Promarkers: tan, ginger, powder blue, mustard

Do you remeber this:

Well, finally, it got finished over the weekend and turned into this:

I'm not sure why it took me so long to get these finished, just needed to make myself  find a bit of dedicated sewing time. I'm pleased with how they turned out anyway and looking forward to putting them out properly a bit closer to Christmas.

Thanks for dropping by today.

Sunday Slot

I'm trying a new challenge today which I read about on Beverley's Uniko Studio blog - here. It's a 10 minute craft dash over at Pretty Pink Posh.

 CD_30

Colors: Pale yellow, Navy, Magenta

I've often wondered how long it takes to make a card, I can get completely lost in time when I'm crafting and emerge hours later to realise I've done nothing about cooking dinner.  So With all my supplies at the ready and a vague idea of what I was hoping to achieve I made this first card.  It took just under 9 minutes and I cleaned the stamps as I worked.

I quite liked the simple nature of this card, so immediately set about making a second one in more traditional colours.  Strangely this card took about the same amount of time, although I felt far more relaxed and less pressurised.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Modern Christmas
Inks: Card 1 - Memento, rosebud, Paris dusk, dandelion; Card 2 - Memento, cottage ivy, dandelion; Versa Magic, cloud white
Embellishments: Stickles, Diamond

Thanks for dropping by today.

Friday Focus

At the end of the Summer I set myself a target to achieve ten followers by Christmas and yesterday I was thrilled to notice my number ten follower - Sarah Platt.  So a big thank you to Sarah!

Today I've a scrapbook page to share using this challenge over at The Memory Nest.

I usually have at least one selfie in my yearly album, but my 2013 album is getting a bit full - it is nearly the end of the year after all. So I decided to go digital with this challenge.  My digital pages are stored on my computer and then printed out in one big session at the end of the year to make into a smaller 8" x 8" album.

I really enjoyed making this digi version of the layout sketch.  I think this might be the first time I've tried to match a sketch in digi format and think it's turned out ok.  Nearly all my supplies are freebies with the odd 99c item from Designer Digitals and I tend to mix and match quite a bit, so no supply list today.

Thanks for dropping by today.

Thursday Thoughts

The sun is shining - Yay!  Maybe a little trip out today to see what Christmas goodness I can find.

My card today features another LOTV image presented in a CAS way, this time for The Less is More challenge - Using designer paper in a CAS way.

First up I choose the image and then looked through my vast collection of papers and found this creamy yellow paper with little brown hearts that picked up on the hearts in the headband of the Little Ballerina.  I coloured her in shades of creamy yellows to match and added a sentiment from a Christmas set that seemed very appropriate to this image.  A couple of rows of stitching and my card was done.  I think she is absolutely gorgeous and keeping the card CAS makes her the star of the show!

Supplies:
Stamps: LOTV, Little Ballerina; Uniko Studio, sentiment from Jolly Christmas
Inks: Memento, tuxedo black & rich cocoa
Promarkers: Primrose, Buttercup, Umber, Mustard, Ivory
Flexmarkers: Blush, dusky pink

I just need to say a big thank you to these two blogs for featuring my work:

A card at Colour Q and a photo collage at ATDML - amazing to be chosen, thank you!!!

Thanks for dropping by today.

Wednesday Words

A dark and dreary start to the day here, so maybe my card sentiment is very apt.  I'm entering it into the challenge at Sketch Saturday.

I have a box full of LOTV stamps and am enjoying giving them an airing.  There is nothing more calming and peaceful than colouring images and I love how I've discovered - mainly through Jen Nelson's blog - how cards using them can still be simple.  I do love all the multi-layered frilly frothy LOTV cards too, but actually prefer the cleaner look at the moment.

Supplies:
Stamps: LOTV, Boys-Milk & Biscuits & Circular Sentiments-Dreamy Days
Promarkers: cornflower, tan , crimson, indigo blue, umber, blush, dusky pink, linen, chestnut, marsh green
Flexmarkers: nutmeg, saddle brown, burnt sienna, satin, putty
Die: Uniko Studio, Graphic Flowers Time
Punch: ek scallop edge

Thanks for dropping by today.

Sunday Show & Share

Time for another look at some creations that have inspired me in turn to go create.

First up is this tag by Taheerah.  I always admire handmade tags but rarely get round to making any, so this year it's going to be different - at least one handmade tag per person. Well that's the plan at the moment with the luxury of it still only being November!

This tag inspired these:

Next is a card again by Taheerah and was my first glimpse of these stamps being used as a background. This card has inspired many more cards, but this was my very first try.

Just love how she's turned it into a jumper - genius! And here's my card.

Finally I'm returning to the designer of these stamps, the very talented Beverley.  I always love what she does with her own stamps, there's always inspiration on her blog.

And here's my version:

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Stunning Snowflakes, All Occasion Sentiments #4, Background builders Christmas & Chevrons, Jolly Christmas
Inks: Memento, cottage ivey, rhubarb stalk; Versa Magic, Cloud White
Embellishments: Twine, sequins & gems from my stash.

Thanks for dropping by today.

Embellishments: Stickles, Star dust & twine from my stash

Thanks for dropping by today.

Friday Focus

Today's card uses the colour combo I've been seeing so much of in the shops this year.   I'm also seeing a lot of Nordic fair isle jumper effect patterns, so I used Uniko Studio stamps to try to re-create this feel for the background of my card.  The layout is from Freshly Made Sketches, but I've rotated it so that the sentiment reads more easily.  Check out this fabulous card Beverley made using her stamps with this sketch - truly awesome - she never ceases to amaze me with her talent.

But here's my card:

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, All Occasion Sentiments #3 & #4, Background Builders Chevrons & Christmas
Inks: Adirondack, stonewashed; Memento, rhubarb stalk, toffee crunch

Thanks for dropping by today.

Thursday Thoughts

First up a big thank you to these two challenge blogs for picking my cards as worthy of a mention - Colour Q HERE and CAS Colours and Sketches HERE.

Today's card has turned out to be a favourite for me - must have something to do with the colours.  I used a mask and distress ink for the background swirl and then simply added some punched butterflies and a sentiment. I used Sketch Saturday's layout.

Supplies:
Mask: Prima
Inks: Ranger distress ink, dusky concord, chipped sapphire; Memento, grape jelly
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, sentiment from Take Good Care
Punches: Martha Stewart
Paper: Paper Cellar
Embellishments: Papermania Shimmer Dots

Thanks for looking.

Tuesday Talk

A Very Vanilla card to share today - one of the colours from CAS Colours and Sketches current challenge.

First off I stamped and sparkle embossed the image from Clearly Besotted, then brushed over with ditress ink to make it stand out. Next I stamped the same image in brown and added the sentiment.  Once I'd matted and layered the card I felt it needed something to link the stems, so I added a bow. Hope you like the finished result.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Take Good Care & thank You freebie
Inks: Ranger distress ink, stormy sky; Memento, rich cocoa; Versamark
Glitter embossing powder & ribbon from my stash

Thaks for dropping by today.
