AAA Cards Challenge #59 - Embossing

Leap year day tomorrow - so will you be proposing? Or maybe you'd rather just chill out and make a card! Well AAA Cards has a new challenge and we'd like to see some embossing.

http://aaacards.blogspot.com/2016/02/game-59-embossing.html

Now I'm not that clever at heat embossing and my results never seem to match what I see in my head.  But I'm determined to keep trying, so this was an ideal opportunity to give it another go.

And I thought the chunky sentiment of this stamp would be a good one to use to practise my skills. I'm thinking it didn't turn out too bad!

I used both sides of a patterned paper and some enamel dots to finish off my card.

Supplies:
Stamp: SU, Botanicals For You
Ink: Versamark + black embossing powder
Paper: SU, Birthday Bouquet
Embellishments: Doodlebug Sprinkles, beetle black asst

Of course your embossing doesn't have to be the heat it up kind like mine. You could try embossing folders or dry embossing or any type of embossing that you know and enjoy using. There is a whole lot of DT inspiration waiting for you at AAA Cards - a must see!

Oh I nearly forgot - there's a $20 gift certificate to spend at Stampendous for the winner of this challenge. Now that's surely worth a try for!

Thanks for dropping by my blog today, your time is really appreciated. And keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #162

The last February challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches begins today and this week it's a sketch.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2016/02/challenge-162-sketch.html

This was one of those cards that flew together and I knew exactly the stamps I wanted to use.

I used my misti tool to get a good deep colour on the two wall stamps and then popped the elephant sitting on top. I coloured him using promarkers and couldn't resist painting his toe nails bright red.

I added the sentiment and a single strand of twine down the left hand side and I was done.

Supplies:
Stamps: Create A Smile, Poppin' Over
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black
Promarkers: cool grey 1 & 2, hot pnk, pale pink
Twine from my stash

I'm popping this card into the Stamping Sensations February challenge where it's Anything Goes and Addicted To Stamps And More where they want some colouring.

Please grab our logo     http://addictedtostamps-challenge.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/challenge-182-make-your-mark.html

I'm guessing you've already seen the rest of the DT creations - here. Fabulous aren't they? So what will you create with this sketch? Looking forward to finding this out!

Thanks for your time today, your visit is appreciated.  And keep crafting!

Wednesday Words

I was on a bit of a roll yesterday and carried on crafting until it was too late to catch the light for a photograph of the card I made. So I'm sharing it today instead. It's for the CASology cue card DISTRESS and Less is More's theme of TEXTURE.

http://www.casology.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/week-186-distress.html       We'd love you to display our banner

Here's my card:

I used embossing paste and a tiny part of a Rebekah Meier stencil to get my texture. I'm not usually a great fan of embossing paste, but used in a small corner like this has got me thinking I may be converted to its appeal.

I decided to interpret the distress as a sympathy type of card and added a Uniko sentiment to express this.  And the butterfly? Well I just love butterflies and they always seem appropriate whatever the occasion.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, English Country Garden - butterflies, sentiment from Flower Power #1
Inks: Memento, tuxedo black
Stencil TCW, Mini Grow Page
Embossing: Dreamweaver paste, white

So pleased you dropped by today, thanks for your time.

And keep crafting!

Tuesday Talk

I've had a bit of time today, so took advantage and made a card for the current Addicted to CAS challenge which has the code word HOME.

http://www.addictedtocas.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/challenge-82-home.html

Just before I went into my craftroom I'd been looking at facebook and spotted some wonderful creations using Lavinia stamps and thought to myself it's time I gave my Lavinia stash some love. I adore all the fairy home stamps but haven't got round to letting them jump into my online cart yet, but I do have the castle. So that's what I used.

I'd also been admiring the fabulous work of Eileen Godwin and watched a youtube video of how she uses stencils - and that inspired my inky background. I've never thought to actually move a stencil around and keep on adding ink and overlapping layers - neat result. I especially love how the colours look shining through the castle stamp.

To finish off this card I couldn't resist adding the creature who may just possibly call this castle home!

Supplies:
Stamps: Lavinia, large castle, small dragon; Uniko, sentiment from Home Sweet Home
Inks: Ranger distress, spun sugar, evergreen bough, scattered straw, shaded lilac, victorian velvet; Versafine, onyx black
Stencil: ARTplorations, bubbles
Die: Lil'inker, stitch mats rectangles

Thanks for dropping by my blog, you've made my day.

And keep crafting!

Saturday Slot

I'm back today with a card I made to enter into two challenges - STAMPlorations theme and sketch challenge and Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge.

http://stamplorations.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/monthly%20challengehttp://stamplorations.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/monthly%20challenge       http://www.happylittlestampers.com/search/label/CAS%20Challenge

Here's my card:

I started my card by stamping the images and then masking them before using an embossing folder to add the background lines.  Next I coloured in my triplet - the two penguins and the reindeer and for good measure I also added another triplet - the tiny snowflakes.

I finished off with the sentiment - a sort of motivational quote - chosen as I'll probably use this card on a project life scrapbook page.

Supplies:
Stamps: Lawn Fawn, Toboggan Together; STAMPlorations, Journsy
Inks: SU, pool party; Memento, tuxedo black
Embossing: Cuttlebug, forest branches
Promarkers: mustard, peach, cool grey 5, ivory, umber, tan, cinnamon, oatmeal

I'm so pleased you stopped by my blog today, thank you for your time.  And keep crafting!

Uniko Challenge #29

Time for a new challenge at Uniko and this month it's a colour theme.

http://unikostudio.blogspot.co.uk/

Rather fitting that the chosen colours are the Uniko signature ones. And it helps that they're so pretty when used together!

I started by using a stencil and the light turquoise to create the rays and then masked off a circle at the top and inked it with the darker shade of turquoise.

The hey was stamped in pink and then a few sequins were randomly adhered just to finish off.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, All Occasion Sentiments #2
Inks: SU, tempting turquoise, soft sky, regal rose
Stencil: Memory Box, texture shine
Embellishmsnts: sequins from my stash

As always the Uniko DT have made cards to inspire you and this month we welcome AJ as our Guest Designer. Go leave them all some love and check out the prize on offer too - here.

Thanks for looking today. And keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #161

Oh I love the colours at CAS Colours & Sketches this week! Yes! There's purple!

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2016/02/challenge-161-colours.html

And didn't I have fun making this card!

I die cut the stitched circle and then placed a smaller die cut circle on top of it as a mask and brushed wisteria wonder over to create the inner frame. I stamped the image and part sentiment in elegant eggplant, then popped the die cut back into its hole to keep my card nice and CAS.

My silver element is the die cut happy. I don't have any silver ink or embossing powder so always struggle when silver comes up as a colour. I'm going to be looking carefully at all your silver to find out what you use and hopefully find some recommendations so I can add silver to my stash.

I'm popping this card into the Anything Goes challenge at Addicted To Stamps and More.

http://addictedtostamps-challenge.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/challenge-181-anything-goes.html

Supplies:
Stamps: SU, Happy Home; Uniko, snetiment from Flower Power #2
Inks: SU, elegant eggplant, wisteria wonder
Dies: Lawn Fawn, Large stitched circle stackables; Claerly Besotted, Happy

Time to say goodbye now and send you off to see what the rest of the CAS Colours & Sketches team has created with these super colours.

Thanks for your time today, I'm so glad you dropped by.

And keep crafting!

The Male Room Challenge #29

A real gift of a challenge at The Male Room starts today. Choose your own colour - but then stick with it!

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/

And just for a change I didn't go with purple or pink, but chose the most traditional of male colours - blue.

Do you know a man who needs a hug? Well I was thinking that I know a couple, so that was on my mind when I created this card.

I die cut the hugs word several times and glued them together - makes this chunky word look even more chunky - and then stamped the rest of the sentiment and hearts to frame it. Simple and very CAS.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, In The Frame, Woodland Kisses
Ink: Memento, Danube blue
Die: Lawn Fawn, Scripty Hugs

So what colour will you choose? And how will you creat with it? Looking forward to seeing the answers when your cards pop up in the gallery at The Male Room.

Thanks for looking today, your time is appreciated.

And keep crafting!

Tuesday Talk

Yay, I found time today to squeeze in a couple of challenges between DT commitments. The first one is for Happy Little Stamper's CASE The Designer challenge.

http://www.happylittlestampers.com/search/label/CASE%20Challenge    http://www.happylittlestampers.com/search/label/CASE%20Challenge

I love these sort of challenges - what could be better than basing a card on a talented crafter's creation?

So I picked up on the elephant surrounded by a background of small elements, but changed up the colour scheme.

After I coloured Hetty the elephant - from Digi Stamp Boutique - I masked her off with a circle and then randomly stamped the flowers. And although my background is not empty white space I still think it's subtle enough to call my card CAS.

Supplies:
Stamps: Digi Stamp boutique, Edwin & Hetty set; SU, sentiment from Happy Home
Inks: SU, pink pirouette; Memento, tuxedo black
Pens: Promarkers, cool grey 1 & 2, baby pink, meadow green; Sakura, gelly roll white

My next card is for Addicted to CAS where the code word is BLOOM.

http://www.addictedtocas.blogspot.com.au/2016/02/challenge-81-bloom.html

The perfect opportunity to get out that new Beautiful Blooms III Uniko stamp that has me so smitten.

Does anyone else have difficulty lining up multi layer stamps? Even using my misti tool many attempts ended up in the bin and then I remembered - embrace imperfection - so I did!

So anyway once I got a set of stamping I could live with I then hand drew the curved stalk line - scary or what? This card making session wasn't without drama! Since Less is More want a one layer stalk card this week I'm popping this card into their challenge too.

We'd love you to display our banner

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Beautiful Blooms III, Nature's Treasures II, February release freebie
Inks: Memento, rose bud, lilac posies, tuxedo black; SU, pear pizazz
Promarker: marsh green

I so pleased you dropped by today. I know time is limited so thanks for sharing some with me here on my blog.

And keep crafting!
