CAS Colours & Sketches #180

As there's five Thursdays in June it's a double challenge this week at CAS Colours & Sketches. And what a sensational sketch and hot combo of colours!

And here's my card:

This was such a fun card to create and I'm loving those vibrant sassy colours - something a bit different for me.

I managed to curve the sentiment stamps to echo the curve on the sketch. And I bet you'll be like me and not be able to get that Blur song 'Woo Hoo' out of your head all day!

Supplies:
Stamps: HLS, Mix Mash, Bold Birthday Sentiments
Inks: SU, melon mambo, bermuda bay, daffodil delight; Memento, tuxedo black

This is Bev's last challenge as hostess for June, so be sure to show her some love by joining in and linking up at CC&S!

Huge gratitude for coming to see my blog today.  and keep crafting!

Uniko - June Release Bloghop

Hurray and Aloha! Today's the day when the Uniko DT get to share their creations using the tropically terrific new June release.

And what an absolutely fantastic release too! Hot or what? My craft desk has not seen such colourful creations before and I've had a brilliant blast working right outside of my usual style!

This toucan is just terrific and I did my research and it seems they do come in other colours rather than the well known Guiness version! Ooh, fabulous fun with my promarkers.

Loving how the slightly speckled effect watercolour paper gives adds a touch of realism to his feathers.

Supplies:
Uniko, Paradise & Paradise Leaves
Inks: Ranger distress, peacock feathers, mustard seed, lucky clover; Memento, tuxedo black
Promarkers: azure, mint green, tulip yellow, ruby

Next it's the turn of those wonderful hibiscus flowers. Check out those vibrant tones muted down by the addition of a parchment paper strip.

I'm thinking this might just be my new all time favourite Uniko flower, but I can be fickle as I love using them all!

Supplies:
Stamps: Paradise
Inks: Staz On, jet black; SU, cucmber crush, pumpkin pie, wisteria wonder, melon mambo

My next card combines a previously released stamp set that fits the new release like a glove.

A little more research revealed that these birds also come in amazingly stunning colours - how breathtaking it must be to see them in real life!

Having stamped and coloured him in such vibrant colours I couldn't resist giving him the Wink of Stella treatment - he even outshines that flower!

Supplies:
Stamps: Paradis, Paradise Hummingbird & Flower Power #7 for the eye
Inks: Memento, grape jelly, pear tart, lilac posies, tuxedo black
Promarkers: azure, mint green, ivory, pink carnation
Die: MFT Die-namics, Inside/Out Stitched Circles
Wink of Stella

I usually only make three cards for the release, but as we had a little more time this month and I couldn't actually bear to put these stamps away I've a fourth and final card to share today.

Another brightly coloured toucan posing against a jungly background! I used a stencil with rainforesty shades of green and popped it behind a stitched circle die cut.

And Mr 'Bob' is sitting resplendent surveying his world!

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Paradise & Paradise Leaves
Inks: Su, wild wasabi, cucmber crush, daffodil delight
Promarkers: tulip yellow, leaf green, azure, raw sienna, burnt orange
Die: MFT Die-namics, Inside/Out Stitched Circles
Stencil: TCW, mini webbing

Phew! Have you made it this far? You're a star! So now for the bloghop order and the chance to win the entire new release plus the hummingbird set:

Jane - that's me

Thanks for looking at my little bit of internet paradise today and good luck with your quest to win!

Ans as always keep crafting!

Uniko Challenge #33 Reminder

Hey! Just whizzing in today to remind you about the current challenge going on at Uniko.
http://unikostudio.blogspot.co.uk/

My card picks up on the colours and circular elements from the photo inspiration and the I Love Tea Uniko set as its starting point.

Once I'd stamped the tea cup I cut it out and then stamped the pattern using Decorative Doilies and Some Bunny.  Reminds me of a tea set I grew up with in the 50's & 60's!

I hung my tea cup on a chain stamped using Background Builders Round in Circles.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, I Love Tea, Background Builders Round In Circles, Decorative Doilies, Some Bunny
Inks: SU, smoky slate, regal rose; Memento, teal zeal, cantaloupe

I really hope you'll find time to join in the fun at Uniko - there's a brilliant prize to win! And don't forget to drop by tomorrow for the June Release Blog Hop when there's another brilliant prize to win!

Thanks for your time today.  And keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #179

A new sketch challenge begins today at CAS Colours & Sketches. Think you're going to enjoy this one!

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.com/2016/06/sketch-challenge-179.html

I needed a wedding anniversary card for one of my sons and got cracking with the sketch and came up with this:

Flowers are always appropriate for anniversaries and if I know my son it's probably the closest my daughter-in -law will come to receiving any.

I know there are two little tags at the top of the rectangular block on the sketch, but I figured the double petals of the flower looked a bit like two elements - well that's my story anyway. Have I convinced you?

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Beautiful Blooms II, Nature's Treasures II, Simply Said
Inks: SU, pear pizzazz; Memento, angel pink, rose bud

So over to you now - what will you do with this sketch? The rest of the DT and our fabulous Guest Designer for June, Fiona, have cards waiting to inspire you over at CC&S. Do go check them out.

Thanks for dropping by today, I do so love that folks spend time looking and reading my blog.  And keep crafting!

The Male Room #38

Are you a collector of buttons? I have to confess I have a few - well quite a few actually - but rather like patterned paper I prefer to look and stroke rather than use them. So the new challenge at The Male Room has really challenged me!

http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2016/06/challenge-38-stash.html

And I guess, as you'll see, I've chickened out a bit ..... a lot!

You will note though I have used one very cute, very precious, very strokable button - ahh, the temptation to pick it back off!

The patterned card is some I've had lurking in my stash for ever - see I'm just not that good at cutting into paper either!

Supplies:
Card, Kanban
Stamp: uniko, Simply Said
Ink: Memento, toffee crunch
Die: Xcut
Embellishments: ribbon & button from my stash

Well before I go into virtual meltdown do go visit The Male Room blog and see what the other DT have created. Did you notice we had two of our new DT join us for the last challenge? Well the other two are on board now and all four of them are bringing a fresh new perspective, talent and ideas to energise everyone - players and existing DT alike.

Thanks for your time today, always a thrill to have folks visit my blog.  And keep crafting!

Tuesday Talk

Had a go at a new to me technique yesterday as it's the theme at two of my favourite places to play - Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge and Less is More.

http://www.happylittlestampers.com/2016/06/hls-june-cas-challenge_3.html      We'd love you to display our banner

Here's my card:

How surprised are you about the colours? Mmm, thought not! So I started by brushing those colours in diagonals across some watercolour card. Then I spritzed the stamp with water and placed it fairly randomly blotting up the excess ink as I went along.

The addition of a die cut happy on a black banner and the a stamped birthday and I was done.

Supplies:
Stamps: HLS, Bold Birthday Sentiments; Stamplorations, Seashell Cosmo
Inks: Ranger distress, wilted violet, mermaid lagoon, picked raspberry; Memento, tuxedo black
Die: Clearly Besotted, happy

Thanks for visiting today, I'm really pleased you found the time.  And keep crafting!

Monday Moments

Today I'm sharing a card I made for two challenges, CASology and Time Out, who both have the same theme - masculine. One very close to my heart then with all the males in my family.

http://casology.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/week-202-masculine.html      Grab Our Badge!

Time to break out the blues then!

I used homemade stencils to ink up the three background circles and then stamped over with the script and smaller circles. I'm loving these Happy Little Stamper sets and the circles in particular - just keep reaching for them all the time.

Ok so having made a CAS card I really liked I thought I'd see if I could add the mixed media twist to it that Time Out mentioned. So I did a bit of embossing, added two die cut  arrows and some enamel dots - hoping that makes it qualify.

And I'm thinking I like this second version even more. Seems more rugged and masculine, but still CAS. What do you think?

Supplies:
Stamps: Happy Little Stampers, Mix Mash, Thinking of You
Inks: Ranger distress, peacock feathers, blueprint sketch, cracked pistachio; SU, night of navy
Die: Technique Tuesday, That Arrow Card
Embossing: Cuttlebug
Embellishments: Doodlebug Sprinkles, blue jean asst.

Thanks for coming over to look at my blog today, your visit is greatly appreciated.  And keep crafting!

AAA Cards - Game #67 Googley Eyes

A really fun challenge theme this fortnight at AAA Cards - we'd like to see those wobbly googley eyes used on your cards.

http://aaacards.blogspot.com/2016/06/game-67-googley-eyes.html

As this is the time of year when everyone is thinking about graduation ceremonies and celebrating the end of studies I made a crd with this in mind.

I hopped over to my favourite digi stamp place - Digi Stamp Boutique - and found this cheeky owl all dressed for the occasion. And to make him even more cheeky I added two slightly different sizes of eyes.

I love the mix of seriousness and joyfulness in this stamp - reflecting exactly the mix of emotions on graduation day.

Supplies:
Stamps: Digi Stamp Boutique, Graduation Merlin; Uniko, All Occasion Sentiments #1
Promarkers: cool grey 1, 3 & 4, burnt orange, ivory, satin
Die: Lawn Fawn, large stitched circle stackables

How will you add googley eyes to your card? So looking forward to finding out! If you're needing a few more ideas why not pop back over to AAA Cards to see what the DT and our talented Guest Designer  - Patti from Stationery Styles - has come up with.

So pleased you found time to visit my blog today, thanks a billion!  And keep crafting!

Saturday Slot

When I spotted the code word for the current challenge at Addicted to CAS I couldn't believe my luck, it couldn't have been more timely coinciding with the June Uniko Paradise release! And as I like to combine challenges when I can I decided to go down the blue route to satisfy Stamplorations CAS colour twist.

http://addictedtocas.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/challenge-90-aloha.html    http://stamplorations.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/cas-challenge-june.html

And what a joy this card was to create, think I'm a bit smitten by this hibiscus flower!

I stamped and coloured, but kept the card simple and very CAS.

Then I sat and looked at it and wondered. Did it need a bit more of something? So I added a couple of strips of washi down the left hand side and it morphed into this card:

Well the jury's still out and I'm thinking there will be a bit of a problem to reach a decision, so maybe I'll enter a different one into each challenge. Going to be a last minute gut feeling sort of thing.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Paradise
Inks: SU, cucmber crush; Memento, danube blue
Promarkers: ivory, cool aqua, bluebell, azure, leaf green, pine
Washi from my stash

Thanks for your visit today, perhaps you'd like to give me your opinion on which is your favourite card?

But keep crafting!
