Sunday Spot

Have you played along with AAA Cards Facebook group's Weekend Workout? It's all about creating a CAS card that's FUN.

I was really inspired by the graphic when I created my card:

I started by masking off a strip at the bottom of a square card and then inked all over it with shaded lilac distress ink. Then I used Funky Fossil's Diwali Candle to create a bokeh effect on top of the strip with five other colours of distress ink.

I wanted to add a really light colour to finish off so chose a distress oxide ink in squeezed lemonade. The oxide inks tend to be much more intense, creamy and opaque and have the ability to stand out on top of dark colours.

I stamped over this bokeh panel with Guitar Hero and added the sentiment - which I love - above it. I'm thinking this card is pretty fun and I love the bright happy colours!

Supplies:
Stamps: Funky Fossil, Guitar Hero
Inks: Ranger distress, shaded lilac, cracked pistachio, mermaid lagoon, picked raspberry, wilted violet, blueprint sketch; Ranger distress oxide, squeezed lemonade; Versafine Clair, nocturne
Stencil: Funky Fossil, Diwali Candle

I'm hoping you'll pop over to facebook and join in with this fun challenge. There's really no closing date, but you do need to be a member of the AAA Cards facebook group.

Thanks for stopping by, I've loved having you visit my blog.

Saturday Slot

Today I'm playing along with The Cutie Pie Challenge - just squeezing in before it closes.

The theme is The Boys Are Back In Town and I chose this mega cute science dude a digi image from Polkadoodles. I'm thinking maybe he could have been one of the magnificent scientists working on the Covid vaccine.

I coloured him up using Copic pens and then framed and matted him in some bright happy colours. I chose the sentiment as it just seemed to fit the bubbling potions.

Supplies:
Inks: Versafine Clair, nocturne
Paper & Card: Sunny Studio, Preppy Prints; Papermill Direct, emerald green, super smooth white
Dies: Lawn Fawn, stitched rectangle frames
Pens: Copic, E000, E00, E43, E44, E47, R20, R39, R59, YR68, Y35, BG15, G05, BV05, C0, C1, C3, C5, C7; Sakura white gelly roll

So have you seen the current challenge that's going on at Uniko? Well I'm here today to encourage to join in and play along is you haven't already done so.

I chose the Mid Century Modern Squares stencil and two bright ink colours to create a background strip on the left side of my card. It reminds me a bit of a Japanese style screen with the sky and grass outside peeping through.

I then used the beautiful silhouette from Just Because and my misti tool to get a good sharp and crisp stamping. the sentiment is also from this stamp set.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko, Just Because
Inks: Ranger distress, twisted citron, tumbled glass; Versafine Clair, nocturne

The rest of the Uniko DT have also created cards to inspire you to play along. Check them all out HERE.

Polkadoodles Anything Goes Craft & Card Making Challenge

Time for another Friday Challenge at Polkadoodles. As always it's Anything Goes.

The theme the DT were asked to use for this week is Romance.

I decided to make a little stack of gift boxes decorated with papers from Timeless Rose. I tied them together with a band using the same papers and a chiffon ribbon.

Then I added a tag using the largest die from the Posydoodles tags set and popped the gorgeous Too Cute Owl Love on top. I tucked a heart cut using the Heart Flourish die behind this large tag and added a smaller tag with a sentiment stamped from the Everlasting Sentiments set.

Supplies:
Papers: Polkadoodles, Timeless Rose
Pens: Copic, C0, W1, W3, W5, V000, B000, R81, R83, R85
Inks: Versafine Clair, nocturne; SU, sugarplum

Thursday Thoughts

I've just found a brand new challenge to play along with - Make The Cards. Sounds like it's going to be a fun one, so I thought I'd give it a go.

I do like a sketch to use as a starting point and this is what I came up with:

I've been hugging this paper pad for some time now and today I decided it was time! So I started by preparing all the layers from the sketch and then stamped the gorgeous Uniko rose onto the square.

The hello is a very old Clearly Besotted die and I cut it three times to add dimension.

Supplies:
Ink: SU, smoky slate
Ppaer, Mintay Papers, Dear diary
Dies: Lawn Fawn, stitched squares; CB, Hello

Huge thanks for dropping by today, I really appreciate you taking the time.

Wednesday Words

Today I'm sharing a scrapbook page using the layout from Let's Get Sketchy.

Here it is:

I started by placing the centre strip and photos. Then I stamped the cupcakes, clocks and splatters in three colours to tone in with the photos. This birthday was all about the cakes, the watch and lockdown!

I added a journal card and stamped a background strip, another clock and the title straight on to it. I then added the 70 yrs. Yes it was supposed to be a family party but ended up being a Portal TV party instead. There's another half page with the journalling and a photo of the TV which will sit beside this page in my album.

Supplies:
Papers: Simple Stories, Say Cheese, Sunshine & Happiness
Stamps: Funky Fossil, Cupcake Crazy; Heffy Doodle, Big & Bold Words; SU, Gorgeous Grunge; Prima, Clocks
Inks: SU, pumpkin pie, crushed curry, baked brown sugar
Alphas: Dear Lizzy Thickers, Woodland; MAMBI alpha stickers

Thanks so much for looking today, I really love that you stopped by my blog.

Today I'm sharing a card I created to play along with the challenge at HLS CAS.

I started by stamping the greeting and then placed the image just to the right of it. I coloured using Copic pens.

Supplies:
Stamps: Georgia Hey, Hug It Out
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black
Pens: Copic, G40, C00, C1, C3, C5, RV14, R35, R81

Monday Moment

Today I'm sharing a card I created with two challenges in mind - Christmas Kickstart and CAS Christmas. Never too early to start a Christmas card stash!

I decided to use mainly stencils for my card:

I started by inking the base of the Snow Globe with stormy sky distress oxide. Then I placed the main section of the snow globe and used three colours of distress oxide. I flicked over this with water to create a bit of a snowstorm.

Once the water had dried I inked through the smaller deer from the Steampunk Reindeer stencil using black ink - loving how dainty and different the deer is. I finished it all off with a stamped greeting and matted it onto a 6" square base card.

Supplies:
Stamps: Funky Fossil, Festive Phrases
Stencils: Funky Fossil, Steampunk Reindeer, Snow Globe
Inks: Ranger distress oxide, stormy sky, tumbled glass, shaded lilac, spun sugar; Versafine Clair, nocturne

Delighted to have you visit my blog today, thanks so much.

AAA Cards Challenge #182 - One Layer + optional twist Silhouettes

Hey! Welcome to my blog!

Today I'm sharing my DT card and info about the new AAA Cards Challenge.

The main theme - and the compulsory part - is One Layer, but there's also a fab optional twist of using silhouettes. And of course I went for it!

I started by creating a background wall using the Funky Fossil stencil Brick Wall and three colours of ink. I wanted a good crisp stamping of the images so I used my misti tool to stamp the cat and spider silhouettes on top of the inky wall. I drew in the spider thread with a micro fine pen.

I finished off by stamping the greeting above the wall. I thought this was a fun way to use Halloween stamps for a different occasion.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted, Fright Night; Uniko, Simply Said Birthday
Stencil: Funky Fossil, Brick Wall
Inks: Memento, espresso truffle, peanut brittle, cantaloupe, tuxedo black

Be sure to pop over to the AAA Cards blog to check out what the rest of the DT and our wonderful Guest Designer Monika have been up to - HERE.

Huge thanks for your visit today, I really appreciate you taking the time.

I then added some trailing stars using Banners & Bunting and stamped a greeting using Small Print and the lightest of the oxide inks.

Supplies:
Stamps: Funky Fossil, Small Print
Stencils: Funky Fossil, Fairytale Moon, Banners & Bunting
Inks: Ranger distress oxide, squeezed lemonade, fossilised amber, spiced marmalade

Thursday Thoughts

Today I'm playing along with Perfectly CAS.

As you know CAS is my preferred style so I'm really pleased to see this challenge back after its break.

And I do seem to have quite a few stencils in my stash! The one I used for this card is Rock Star from Funky Fossil and is currently my favourite and getting quite a lot of use.

I started by inking through the greeting in black and a pop of red for the star. then I placed the guitar handles to the left, masked out the ones I didn't need and applied both black and red ink.

For even more impact I matted the card onto red and then black card. Simple and quick - I love stencils!

Supplies:
Inks: Versafine Clair, nocturne; SU, cherry cobbler
Card: Papermill Direct, plain black, ruby red plain

I'm delighted to have had your company for a while today, thanks so much for your time.
