Uniko Challenge #45 - Something Old, Something New

I'm so pleased you dropped by today as I'm here with details of the first Uniko Challenge for 2018.

And what could be a more fitting theme? And with Valentine's Day coming up soon the twist is going to be so easy to encorporate.

So for my DT card I've used what I think is my first ever stamp set bought from Uniko and the bang up to date new matching die.

I chose some colours inspired by the violas and primulas that are starting to appear in my local shops. I added the flowers to a been in my stash forever die cut heart to encompass the challenge's LOVE twist and used a greeting from the freebie set from the Uniko December new release.

Thursday Thoughts

Today I'm saring a card I made for the STAMPlorations CAS Challenge. The theme is Anything Goes with an optional colour twist of silver.

Of course I couldn't resist the colour twist so my card is looking very sparkly!

A little research on the internet helped me pick colours for the plumerias - I'd not come across these flowers before, but they are so pretty. I hand cut the very bottom of the blooms and leaf so that I could pull them out to drape over the silver base of my card.

Wednesday Words - Featuring Uniko Stamps

Tuesday Talk

It's not often that a new challenge comes along and when it's the brain child of the multi talented Darnell you know it's going to be a great one. So I'm here today joining in with the very first Twofer Challenge.

And as it name suggests  there needs to be two cards both using the same stamp or die, but in different ways.  So here's my twofer:

Both cards use the same Clearly Besotted feather stamp, but in different ways, colours and occasions.

The first one is a congratulations card and since the greeting mentions pink that's the colours I chose to use.  The feathers were stamped and heat embossed in black and then two shades of distress oxide ink were blended on top. Som flicks of water mopped up with a tissue and I was done.

My second card is an encouragement card and I stamped the feathers going off the side of the card in a graduated pattern.  I chose a Kaleidacolor ink pad as I love the way the colours change along this very beautiful and detailed feather stamp.

Monday Moment

As you all know my primary card making style is CAS, so it would seem rude not to enter a CAS Challenge don't you think? Today it was the Addicted to CAS theme that caught my eye where the code word is MUSIC.

And here's my card:

As it's the beginning of the year I've been thinking lots about how I want to be in 2018 and any stamps with inspirational quotes on them have been jumping out at me from stash. And this particular one is really speaking to me at the moment.

I used some sparkly card to die cut the treble clef and simply stamped the quote beside it. This card is destined for my craft room wall right in front of my desk.

Along similar lines I found this when browsing pinterest and absolutely love it. It's also going on my wall and is already in my planner.

Uniko - January 2018 Revisit DT Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to the first Uniko revisit for 2018.  Normally when we do a revisit Bev selects the stamp set, but this time she's given the DT free rein to select any of the 2017 release sets to give a little more love to.

And I've gone right back to February last year and chosen to revisit Block Party Birthday. My first card also adds an October release, Background Blocks Wonky Stripes, into the mix and was created for my husband's birthday last week. So of course there are lots of blues as they're his favourite colours.

I stamped the birthday block in turquoise and the wonky stripes in black and then got to work with my Copic pens to add colour to the stripes and some detail to the block stamp.

Ink: SU, tempting turquoise
Pens: Copic, B24, B26, B28

So having created in blue it seemed only fair to go for a more girly option and I broke out the pinks.

I used an ombre ink pad - which seems to have lost its ombre - to stamp the birthday block and then stamped it again in black. I die cut a heart from the black and adhered it over the pink.  A sparkly silver frame and the addition of some black doodles to the pink section and I called it done.

Dies: Xcut, Homespun Hearts; Lawn Fawn, stitched rectangle frames 

Back to the blues again for my final card and out came those brusho powders.  The birthday block was stamped and heat embossed and then I sprinkled two brusho colours and spritzed them with water.

This was nearly a disaster as the brusho colours were so intense it was difficult to see the stamping, but a quick dab with a tissue muted them down and allowed the stamping to shine through.

Saturday Spot

Today I'm sharing a card I created for the current challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches.

Such a super CAS sketch designed by Bev that I couldn't resist playing along.

I started by making a rectangle stencil using a die and then sprinkling brusho powder into the aperture. I kept the stencil in place and spritzed it with water, then quickly lifted the stencil and left the inks to dry.

I then stamped the soundwave over the top and added an inspirational quote.
