Saturday Slot

So my new Uniko Studio goodies have arrived! And then this sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch popped up on my reading list. A match made in heaven!

http://casethissketch.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/case-this-sketch-110.html

Here's my card:

I stamped the outline flower onto spotty card and then used the smaller detail stamp on top. The flower was fussy cut and mounted onto pads.

I then did a couple of die cuts to frame the flower and added one of the new sentiments. A trio of gems and I was done.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Beautiful Blooms II, Simply Said Birthday
Ink: SU, rich razzleberry
Dies: Spellbinders, classic scalloped circles small; Tim Holtx, scribbles & splat
Embellishments: MeiFlower, adhesive gems

Thanks for your time today. And keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #111

A sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches this week - and what a sketch!

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.co.uk/

OK so I confess when I first saw this sketch my fear was high! But beginning by rotating the layout made such a big difference for me, just couldn't get my head round all that top heavy stuff. And then, guess what, this sketch turned out to be a favourite and I loved playing with my stamps to fill the spaces.

I'm not a great one for bigging up my own work, but I have to say I'm really smitten by how this card turned out. Just goes to show what can be achieved when you calm down and get creating!

And it uses two of my current favourite stamp sets from my all time favourite designers. Vine flowers from Uniko Studio and that large spotty and small plain sentiment from Clearly Besotted.

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Background Builders Vines & Squared; Clearly Besotted, Happy Birthday
Inks: SU, crushed curry, melon mambo, rich razzleberry

So pleased you found time to visit here today, thanks so much. Have fun with the sketch and keep crafting!

Wednesday Words

So time to play and make a card for Less is More who are celebrating their birthday this week.

Less is More is 4 Years old
And their theme is PINK and GREY

And I'm not loving how my card looks so red in my photos, must be something to do with all the gloomy grey days we've been having.

My card was inspired by Jennifer McGuire's post - here - which I read round my dad's and it left me buzzing and eager to get back to my craft space! She is always inspirational and the video clip has clever ways to make crafting simpler as well as creative ideas. Do check it out.

As well as the stamped lines I added a strip of washi tape I found in my stash which in real life is a lovely sugary pink. Sigh!

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Background Builders Squared, Background Builders Flower Power, Background Builders Round In Circles; Clearly Besotted, Happy Birthday
Inks: SU, pink pirouette, strawberry slush, regal rose, melon mambo, smoky slate, basic grey
Washi tape from my stash

Thanks for your visit today, much appreciated. And keep crafting!

The Memory Nest - Make It Monday 34

Time for the second February challenge at The Memory Nest today and I have to confess to being a bit excited and apprehensive about the page I'm sharing as my DT creation.

I knew as soon as I saw the sketch that it had to be a you and me sort of page and these two photos immediately came to mind. But then I went a bit crazy - well for me anyway - and got very messy with a paintbrush.

I took the colours from the journal cards and had such fun making the frames, spritzing and stamping into the wet white lines. The overall effect feels very reminiscent of the colours and vibes of the early 70s when I was still young and carefree.

I stamped a lined journalling block and then added a little handwritten info about the day. The photos bring back far more details about that long Summer break and the thrill of meeting up, but they're for me to know and the reader to guess about!

I'm loving the way the spritzed ink expands and the stamped ink changes colour as it sinks into the damp white frame.

So I'm wondering what you're thinking? This page is just so very different from my usual style, but I am pleased with how it turned out and wasn't tempted to throw it in the bin! I'd love to hear your opinion.

Supplies:
Paper:Bazzill Basics card; Simple Stories, I {heart} Summer journal cards
Inks: Mister Huey's Color Mists, opaque white, dark calico, Sunshine; Memento, rich cocoa
Stanps: Kaisercraft, Botanical journal
Alpha: Cuttlebug, Hippy Chick
Die: Die-namics, ampersand
Embellishments: button from my stash; Doodlebug sprinkles, Spring asst.

Thanks for dropping by my blog today, and thanks again if you've time to leave a comment. I'll be popping round to look at all your entries to The Memory Nest's challenge and leaving you some love too.

Sunday Slot

Following on from yesterday's post I've a card to enter into the second February challenge at Happy Little Stampers. And CAS is right up my street!

http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/hls-february-cas-challenge.html

I used an embossing folder - swiss dots - for my embossed element. This must be my all time favourite and I use it all the time.

I had this lovely piece of pink card and used it as the basis for my colour scheme. Just couldn't resist adding a touch of sunshiny yellow, such a brilliant clash of colours - hoping it may catch their eye!

The die cut circle is mounted onto pads and one of the trio of sprinkles has the important job of covering an ink smudge.

Supplies:
Stamps: Strampendous, sketched butterfly; SU, Good Greetings
Ink: Memento, tuxedo black
Die: Lawn Fawn, stitched party banners
Punch: Xcut, corner rounder
Pens: promarker, tulip yellow; Flexmarkers, vermillion, shocking pink
Embellishments: doodlebug sprinkles , bumblebee asst.

Great to have you drop by today, thanks so much. And keep crafting!

Saturday Slot

For me one of the very best things about blogland friends is the way information can be passed on so easily. So while I was browsing Kathy's blog - Purple Princess Diaries - I discovered a new challenge blog - Happy Little Stampers. Love how these things just snowball.

One of their February challenges is this lovely CAS sketch:
http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/hls-february-sketch-challenge.html

And here is what I came up with:

I stamped the background before die cutting it into a stitched circle. The butterflies were punched and edged with ink. Not sure why the swirls look purple, they really are chocolate brown in real life!

Supplies:
Stamps: Uniko Studio, Big & Bold Snow & A Gift For You; SU, Gorgeous Grunge
Inks: SU, early espressp, crumb cake
Die: Lawn Fawn, stitched party banners
Punches: Martha Stewart, 3 in 1 butterfly & classic butterfly medium
Embellishments: Papermania adhesive pearls

Thanks for spending some time looking at my blog today. And keep crafting!

CAS Colours & Sketches #110

This week kicks off the February challenges at CAS Colours & Sketches with a beautiful trio of colours to inspire you.

http://cascoloursandsketches.blogspot.co.uk/

I think I might have mentioned before that Valentine cards are not my thing, but hey these colours just had to be love themed. You'll notice I've chosen a vague sentiment so my card could be used for other occasions too!

I started by stamping the rectangular strip with different sized hearts and sequins. The present was stamped and fussy cut before mounting onto pads on top of the strip.

I wanted the sentiment to look a bit like a gift tag so I handcut a banner after stamping it onto a scrap of card.

Supplies:
Stamps:Uniko Studio, Always & Forever, A Gift For You & Flower Power #3
Inks: SU, strawberry slush, sahara sand; Memento, angel pink

Thanks for dropping by today, your time is much appreciated. Have fun with this week's colour challenge. And keep crafting!
