AAA Cards Game 9

At last the long awaited MacGyver Game! This is scheduled to happen every time there is a fifth Sunday in the month, but this, our first ever MacGyver, is even more exciting.  Every DT member has a prize to give away as well as the main huge Stampendous package for the winner.

So here's how it plays:

1. Follow round the blog hop and look for the hidden treasure - images of one of the five MacGyver items will be lurking.  Collect all five and create a post at your blog, add in those 5 images and a quick word or two on your favourite DT visit. Link your post to the AAA Cards Linky. This is Victoria's challenge and the winner receives a Stampendous Frantage Encrusted Jewel Set (Embossing Powders and Elements- see image at AAA Cards). That's the first way to win.

2. While visiting via the blog hop leave a comment that answers the question posed by each of the other DT members. The best answer, chosen by each DT member, will win a Stampendous stamp. That's six more chances to win!

3. Then of course is the actual MacGyver Game. Make a card using each of the five items mentioned and be in with a chance to win BIG!  A large flower Stampendous stamp set and matching dies for each flower! So I think that makes a total of eight ways to win. Got to be worth a go! or two! or.....!

For my part of the Stampendous/AAA Cards amazing giveaway I've made a little photo tutorial of how I created these cards.

Read carefully - there's a question at the bottom! (Ha ha! Very funny! Only kidding about the read carefully, but there is a question for the chance to win my comments contest.)

1. My supplies all out and ready.

2. Swipe the ink across an acrylic block.

3. Spritz the block with water. I found three to four sprays about right for this project.

4. Tilt the block to allow the inks to run together.

5. Place the stamp onto the inked block. There's enough ink to do several stampings so I placed the stamp in a different place for each card to ensure I picked up the colours in different ways.

6. Stamp the image onto water colour card.

7.  Can you see my inky finger? More fingers became inky as I carried on, so be careful when you touch the card or you're probably get a splodge where you don't want it - like I did on card 2. But all is not lost with water colours, I simply used the left over ink from the block and a water brush to make a stripy background.

7. I stamped the sentiment straight onto card 1, heat embossed it onto card 2 and onto a tag for card 3.

So here's my question: Can you guess which is my favourite card and why?

And my prize is:

Stamps: Stampendous, Agapanthus Thank You
Ink: Kaleidacolor, creole spice; Versamaek; Stampendous embossing powder
Die: Claerly Besotted, Tag along

And here's the blog hop order

Victoria Lavender " Sunny in Tucson"
Angela Maine "from the tool shed"
Jane Taylor "Purplejet Loves Crafts" - that's me
Julia Sager "Julia Sue's Stamping"
Hannelie Bester "Desert Diva"
Linda Beeson "PaperCutting Kind of Day"
Vicki Dutcher "All I do is Stamp"

I hope you have fun today with our first blog hop.
Chances are good to win a prize, maybe it will be you!

Thanks for visiting and good luck in your treasure hunt quest!

  1. Absolutely stunning CAS designs and thanks for sharing the colouring tips.

  2. I am truly in love with your cards this week Jane! I will have to try this!

  3. Pretty cards Jane!!! All three look so pretty! My guess is your favourite card is the middle one as that is my favourite from all!!

  4. Oh my, all three of your cards are nothing short of lovely, with their unique colouring and, in the case of #2, pretty background. Given that I'm totally water-colour challenged, I appreciate even more the talents of those who embrace it with such flair and finesse, as you most certainly do! Your tutorial is wonderful: easy to follow AND includes suggestions of how to fix those occasional (or in my case frequent!) 'oops' situations occur. I may have to try water-colouring again after all...My guess for your favourite...hmmmmm...I'll say #1 (I'd really like to say 'all' but that's not 'really' an answer). This hop is tooooooo much fun. Off I go! Happy Sunday!

  5. That's a tough one Jane! They are all really pretty! For some reason, I keep going back to your first one. I can't really qualify my answer, but that's the one pick. Fabulous tutorial as well!

  6. Hi Jane, you have really made my day with this tutorial of yours!!! Guess what?? I have had that exact same stamppad as you have used here, for ages, and has never used it!! How great is this that you have showed me now how to use it in a very creative way!! Thanks a stack!!

Now, that is really a tough one to choose your favourite from the three stunning cards you have made, hey!!! Eeny, meeny, miny moo, with which one shall I go??? #1, #2 or #3. Think I will go with #3 - think you love the green frame as much as I do and you like the creative way you have stamped the sentiment on the banner lining up with the 'y' at the bottom!!!

    Ok, I'm off to Julia!!

    Greetings from Africa!!

  7. Jane, your are an inspiring designer! You do beautiful cards with great ease. Thank you so much for the wonderful tutorial which I need to try and quickly!

  8. Whee this is so fun! Thank you for this wonderful card and great ink tutorial. I'm going try/play with this technique this afternoon. Thank you too for being part of AAA and helping to set this blog hop is a fun direction Hugs

  9. Love your cards and tutorial! Beautiful.

  10. I am truly impressed. What beautiful colors. I love the simplicity of it.

  11. Love how you created these cards! Just beautiful!!

  12. Jane, I'm going to guess that your favorite card of the three is the one which had the inky finger blotch! :-D If not, I'll tell you it's my favorite since it was such a great way to save it and give it the interest of a watercolor background at the same time. Thanks so much for the instructions. I'm going to try that technique. :-D

  13. LOVE the acrylic use for the stamp inking! Awesome cards too~

  14. I've changed my mind 4 or 5 times, so maybe you have, too. ;-) I'll guess that your favorite is the 1st one with the navy background. I'm picking that one only because the dark cardstock matches your image and sentiment so well and is perfectly CAS. I'm sure you'll be using all of them. They're lovely.

  15. Loving your cards and the tutorial that goes with them. The favourite card is the middle one, the colours of the rainbow in water colour just make the flower image sing xx

  16. What a fun tutorial, Love the results you were able to achieve by this technique. My guess ur fav card is the one in the middle coz of the water color rainbow :)

  17. First, thanks for the wonderful and easy to follow tutorial, love it! Second, your favorite card must be the one where you used the leftover ink from the blog, just because it is extra creative. Thanks for sharing.

  18. what an awesome your cards!

  19. Lovely card, all three of them. As to which one is your favorite - not sure, because you did not leave any hints...but my guess is card #2 - because its my favorite (I know, that does not count) but also because its a rescue that turned out to be totally stunning

  20. OH Jane I love your tutorial I will try it I must try it and I ADORE All your 3 cards..all are adorable and simple and sweeettt...I have to made similar like this..promise I will tell you if I make it....

and my guess is card number 2 because the sentiment look sooo crisp there it looks like it is out of the a die cut sentiment...hope it is right...hugs, Monika

  21. Oh great another wonderful technique to try!!! I would have to guess the card on the right with the green matting? I love the 'watercolor' stamping first of all, but the way you stamped the sentiment is unique too!

  22. Fabulous creations! Love the cas look. I think your favorite (which is also mine) is the middle one for which you made also the stripey background...probably you liked how the flowers turned out to be (a bit brighter than on the others) and decided to go even further with it.

  23. So fabulous and loved all the pics of how-to!! Love that you made three cards with the same general idea but changed each one up a bit!! I think your favorite one is the third one with the sweet little banner raised up and the backing of green to give it extra color and dimension!! Have a moat awesome day!!

  24. These are all fabulous! But my guess is the one in the middle... I think the floating water colors across the card really ties the colors in on the flowers. Thanks!

  25. Your blog has chock-a-block of useful information. I liked your blog's content as well as its look. In my opinion, this is a perfect blog in all aspects. Lexis Poker
